AVP & Technical Lead - A&H Corporate & Affinity
Scope
The Accident and Health division within Client is seeking an experienced professional to fulfill the lead technology role for a new system initiative for the Corporate and Affinity book of business. The Technical Lead is expected to serve as primary influencer of technical and architectural decisions for the system and provide guidance for design and engineering activities within the overall software development lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Lead discussions with all project teams and provide strategic direction for key system features and high-level design.
Work with architects to define system framework across all architecture domain types.
Work with architects and developers to define domain model and detailed technical design.
Provide expertise and direction on current and future use of technologies for the platform.
Define strategy for regular review of code for core delivery and integration teams.
Perform technical leadership role in all aspects of project including new development, maintenance, support and operations.
Execute code reviews and oversee all technology deliverables from all teams and ensure that all standards, patterns, and best practices are being and in conjunction with agreed upon design.
Participate in development of core modules both through physical coding and guidance to team members.
Work with integration teams to identify best approach for design and oversee solution delivery of all integrations.
Assist with performance testing and performance issue resolution including support of technologies and troubleshooting performance issues across all layers of system.
Provide knowledge and expertise related to configuration and use of DevOps tooling on server and developer desktops.
Create and maintain all documents and artifacts at varying levels of abstraction pertinent to architectural and technical designs.
Assume intimate knowledge of all aspects of the system including Business capabilities and all technical components.
Participate in daily agile development activities as member of core delivery team including spring planning, daily meetings, collaborative delivery, and retrospective reviews.

Mandatory Qualifications
Bachelor''s degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science Field of Study
8+ years experience as Engineer or Architect in complex technical environment
3+ years as Technology, Engineering, or Architectural leadership management or supervisory role
5+ years designing with object-oriented development framework, preferably Java EE
Demonstrated success in designing and implementing large distributed component-based systems that span heterogeneous platforms and technologies
Experience working for large/multiline insurance company/carrier or other large financial institution.
Excellent leadership skills with ability to think strategically and set direction for others.
Excellent written/verbal skills, polished presentation skills, and ability to communicate clearly to business and technical audiences.
Domain modeling experience using methodologies such as UML, Archimate, etc
Experience with design paradigms such as Object Orientation, Service-oriented architecture, microservices
Demonstrated experience using design patterns and complex design techniques.
Expert Relational database experience
Proficiency with DevOps and agile approaches to development including TDD, continuous builds, automated promotion.
Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
Highly organized and flexible
Works effectively with minimal supervision, both independently and collaboratively.
Ability to work well in team environment.
Ability to train and mentor developers and other team members on Technology practices.
Ability to be hands-on when required
Ability to work early or late on occasion to interact with offshore and remote teams.

Preferred Qualifications
Proficient in at least 1 language used in Continental Europe
Experience working in co-located team environment.
Background in Accident and Health business-line
