Duration: 6+ Months Contract

Senior MySQL Database Administrator
AWS experience is strongly preferred
MongoDB experience is preferred
Previous eCommerce or retail experience is highly preferred
Oracle Database RDBMS experience heavily recommended
Must be able to work independently as needed - previous experience as a team lead is ideal.
MongoDB; customer uses for reporting - MySQL; customer primary transactional database on AWS environment
These responsibilities, projects and systems are currently managed by an offshore team. Customer is seeking to take over management direct in NYC HQ via onsite contractors. My immediate need is database and system administration, definitely including security, for our order management system environment. This environment is on AWS and consists of the order management system which is custom developed on a MongoDB reporting database.
Ideal candidate understands MySQL and NoSQL (MongoDB) database types, data security, consistency, scaling & demonstrates deep familiarity with Linux based O/S.
The Senior Database Administrator will monitor, manage and deploy database components.
He/She will plan and execute infrastructure capacity (to account for growth), optimize and monitor servers in pre-production & production, of which he/she will ensure availability, backups, updates and security. On-call time may be requested.
The Senior Database Administrator will participate in the technological watch, creation and evolution of processes to automate and industrialize deployments in pre-production & production regions. He/She will partake in the evolution of DB schemas, server installations, etc. and participate in continuous updates of documentation (Git, Wiki, etc He/She will consistently practice risk management in all aspects of your work, taking information security very seriously.
He/She will manage database security/integrity and backup procedures, implement security measures, and write disaster recovery plans.
He/She will consistently demonstrate skill and experience at optimizing and fine tuning the DB client and server components
He/She will take quality seriously and work to quantify and evaluate new ways of measuring quality to ensure systems and application uptime and a positive user experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Optimize DB setups and queries.
Identify trending gaps and issues in day-to-day performance of DB systems and applications.
Troubleshoot DB infrastructure and application related issues.
Propose strategies to anticipate the high volumes of requests and data, and make sure the DB platforms are scaling accordingly.
Participate in security management and document best practices.
SKILLS:
~10 years of experience in DB administration.
Hands-on technical, analytical, interpersonal skills required and proven understanding of Bigdata, high redundancy and high availability of NoSQL (MongoDB) and SQL databases.
Strong in MongoDB, MySQL.
Experience with MySQL GTID replication a plus.
Experience with SaltStack, Chef, Puppet or Ansible a plus
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Bachelor''s or Master''s degree in Computer Science or related field.
