Notes:
We are beginning a new streaming project and are looking for a Kafka Architect to help with the initial design and development of a proof of concept. We are looking for the following requirements: Highly experienced software engineer with background in Kafka messaging framework At least 5 years' experience in information technology with background in software engineering, development and performance analysis - with focus in Java Experience in deployment and management of Kafka message broker framework Experience in analyzing the functional and non-functional aspects of Kafka in support of optimization and improvement of overall system efficiency Experience in supporting troubleshooting and problem resolution of Kafka and related systems supporting enterprise messaging Experience in reviewing Kafka specific metrics and key performance indicators for monitoring and performance management Experience with developing monitoring approaches and strategies for Kafka including reporting Deep technical understanding of Java/J2EE, Spring, REST, Hibernate, JMS, Kafka, Cloud/Microservices, Caching, Security, Distributed Processing.

PURPOSE:
Reports to the Application Development Manager or Application Development Director. The IT Architect is viewed as a thought and execution leader in application software architecture and engineering. The candidate makes well-thought-out decisions on complex or ambiguous systems software engineering issues and ensures that system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to increase efficiency. The IT Architect integrates business-level processes and data within an enterprise and between organizations by linking applications, whether purchased or developed in-house, to better support business processes, reduce cycle times (or latencies), costs, and increase agility to respond quickly to new business opportunities.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and maintain the high-level design plan for the overall logical and technical IT architecture.
Provide technical leadership and consulting across the organization, from strategic decision making down to the project planning level.
The Senior IT Architect will gain organizational commitment for all high-level infrastructure plans, and initiate and participate in projects to evaluate technologies and methods for implementing these plans.
Designs, develops, tests, debugs and implements complex operating systems components, software tools, and utilities.
Recommend modifications to existing software to fit specialized needs and configurations.
Establishes, communicates and executes common goals and directions for teams and provides direction and guidance for technical staff.
Analyze, documents, and understands the IT architecture, business processes and data that exist within the enterprise.
Provide guidance on the degree of integration necessary to optimize business processes and the correct architecture and enabling technology solution to achieve the integration.
Apply hardware engineering and software design theories and principles in researching, designing, and developing product hardware and software interfaces.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
5 - 10 years’ work experience in application and systems architecture.
Proven experience in systems design and development.
Strong understanding of information processing principles and practices.
Solid grounding in core enterprise applications.
In-depth technical knowledge of network, PC, and platform operating systems.
Working technical knowledge of current systems software, protocols, and standards.
Strong knowledge of hardware and software evaluation principles and practice.
Proven project planning and management experience.
Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
Exceptional understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
Superior written and oral communication skills.
Excellent technical architecture and technical support documentation skills.
Strong interpersonal and consultative skills.

Technically fluent in programming languages, including C, Java.
