Job Description :
The Manufacturing Technical Operations team is responsible for providing the manufacturing capability to deliver state-of-the-art physical infrastructure. As a Mechanical Drafter, you’ll assist Design and Manufacturing Engineers to create technical drawings for Google datacenter components and assemblies. You’ll gain exposure to a wide variety of products and will be responsible for generating drawings and specifications based on a solid knowledge of tolerancing and drawing best practices. Additionally, you will leverage your expertise to assist with the design of fixturing and gauges that facilitate production operations within Google''s supply chain network. Your work ensures the various pieces of Google’s infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience. Role Specifics: 1. Develop 2D control drawings from 3D models, components, and/or assemblies per industry best practices, utilizing various CAD productivity tools, that include all pertinent notes, descriptions, and required information for accurate part/assy representation 2. Generate other pertinent technical specifications and documents as required 3. Utilizing PDM tools, properly archive and place created documentation under revision control 4. Recommend best practices when defining dimensions and tolerances for parts and assys fabricated via precision sheetmetal, metal stamping, production machining, plastic injection molding, and other manufacturing technologies 5. Assist with the design of products or components that support and aid production manufacturing processes. 6. Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure that created documents and specifications comply with product design intent 7. Coordinate and communicate with supply chain partners to ensure timely specification/documentation availability
1. Expert Computer Aided Design (CAD) skills (Pro-Engineer/Creo preferred) 2. Solid understanding of Tolerance Loop Analyses 3. Ability to navigate Product Data Management (PDM) tools, with solid understanding of product lifecycles, engineering change requests, and other part attribution processes 4. Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and Plus/Minus Tolerancing as it pertains to various mechanical manufacturing technologies. 5. Technical degree in drafting and/or extensive industry experience in drafting using GD&T best practices 6. Excellent Interpersonal and Communication skills
1. Pro-Engineer/Creo CAD productivity tool experience

2. Windchill and Agile PDM experience

3. Understanding of Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering Technologies, such as precision sheetmetal fabrication, metal stamping, precision machining, plastic injection molding, and other technologies

4. Excellent analytical and organizational skills, coupled with a well-focused attention to details; ability and commitment to produce a timely and highly accurate work product

5. Exposure to High Volume Manufacturing environment; experience with the design of fixturing and gauges a big plus
