Job Description – Manager, Portfolio Operations or PMO Manager
Charter is seeking an experienced Portfolio Operations Manager (PMO Manager) with demonstrated ability to manage a large portfolio of programs and projects. This role has oversight into the full project lifecycle, including initiation through delivery, with a focus optimizing and maintaining the tools and methodology, and leading portfolio level reviews. The role is also responsible for project standards and processes, proactively identifying improvement, auditing projects, status reporting, roadmap and training PMO staff. Qualified candidate must have high attention to detail and strong experience using and administering Smartsheet without limits to include, control center, and the development and maintenance of data mesh tool, reports, and dashboards. The candidate must be a driven individual capable of managing workload with minimal oversight.
Required Qualifications
Program or Portfolio management experience 7+ years
Smartsheet Certified User and/or relevant expert user experience 1+ year
Project management Experience 7+ years
Bachelor’s degree required
Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred
Skills
Polished portfolio or program manager, with similar tenure as project manager
Effectively managed a portfolio of multiple, projects and programs with joint accountability to scope and schedule
Extensive understanding of project and program management principles, methods and techniques; Provide project and program management best practices
Experience presenting to executive leadership and demonstrated communication skills; both written and oral with technical and non-technical staff, all levels of management
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret end user business needs and translate them into solutions
Demonstrated project and program management skills and experience with various project management methodologies and tools
Strong relationship management skills - able to set priorities, influence others, manage customer expectations and effect change through influence and partnership
Flexible with proven ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Technically competent with various software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio), Microsoft Project, and Smartsheet
Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and products
Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Continuous focus on process improvement through all aspects of projects including, planning, scope, issue and risk management, communications, change management and budget in all project lifecycle

Contribute to maintaining and continual improvement of PMO processes, website, tools and methodologies
Develop trusted relationship with project and program stakeholders
Seek out opportunities to collaborate on strategic project and program management initiatives
Deliver appropriate and effective executive level communication
Collaborate with all levels in the supervision of project, program and portfolio, which includes work allocation, training, problem resolution and accountability
Support leadership through capital funding requests
Lead and facilitate program and portfolio level status reviews with executive leadership
Assist leadership with onboarding and training PMO staff and contractors
Experience working within various project management methodologies, and demonstrated experience working in an environment with differing methodologies (i.e. agile and waterfall)
Continuous professional development in order to keep abreast of emerging technologies, methods and project management best practices
