Job Description :
Perform work involving the skills of two or more maintenance or craft occupations to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or the structure of an establishment in repair.
Typically has a high school diploma.
The technical skills include the knowledge of machines and tools.
Responsibilities for this position will include the following:
Repair buses, using hand tools and power tools
Routine preventive maintenance to ensure that buses continue to run smoothly
Inspection and testing of buses to diagnose malfunctions
Manage bus parts inventory
Manage tools and service truck
Diagnose mechanical/electrical problems check blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary
Login all Work orders and Issues in the shop management system, using laptop/pad
Ability to work with telematics fault code data
Position Requirements:
Minimum of a High school diploma is required. Manager did share though that seeing candidates with completed Associates or even Bachelors’ degrees would be great. It is more important to this manger that candidates have applicable, hands on working experience than them having a completed degree.
Manager would like to see candidates with anywhere between 5 – 10 years’ hands-on experience working on buses, heavy duty trucks, army trucks and/or other related or similar vehicles and equipment.
Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem-solving ability.
Team player and detail oriented.
Strong knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
The location where the buses this hire will be working on is in Hope, Indiana. Unless there is training or a team meeting or something that is needed from the selected hire at the location in Indianapolis, the hire would need to report to the garage in Hope for their daily work.
According to the manager, the commute between Hope and Indianapolis is approximately 40 minutes.
