POSITION DESCRIPTION
Ainsworth Pet Nutrition
Title: Maintenance Manager (supervisory position)
Reports To: Director - Continuous Improvement and Plant Operations
Overall Focus: To make sure that the plant is able to run whenever it is scheduled
FLSA Designation: Salary exempt Salary Grade: 17
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES and ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Ensures a safe work environment for team by demonstrating and enforcing safe behavior.
o Follows all safety procedures
o Completes accident reports and turn in to Director of Plant Operations
o Provides feedback to employees on unsafe practices. Institute corrective action as
necessary.
· Successfully implement Operations Execution Model.
o Drives operations results to deliver World Class Customer Service.
o Is a constant leadership presence on the plant floor
o Effectively communicates expectations, provides timely feedback to performance to those
expectations, and takes timely and appropriate disciplinary action when necessary.
o Promotes engagement and maximum effort through demonstrated behaviors and positive
recognition.
o Actively demonstrates respect for all people, product, processes, equipment, and
customers.
· Build and execute effective daily material plans to achieve finished goods schedule.
o Assist team leads in setting up plans, making projections and implementing mid shift
corrections
o Makes cost-conscious business decisions in alignment with all key accountabilities
o Communicate effectively with necessary resources offsite.
· Ensures Food Safety & Quality program is adhered to.
o All Staff shall be informed of their responsibility to report food safety problems to personnel
with authority to initiate action.
o Provide tools and environment to ensure food safety.
o Trains all employees in established SOP''s
o Ensures that all SOP''s are being followed
· Accountable for response time to breakdowns
o Establish expectations
o Manage execution
o Get feedback from Production and team leaders on performance related to breakdowns
· Accountable for maintaining production plant equipment
· Direct a preventative maintenance program that will allow the equipment up time goal to be
met or exceeded using Predictive Methods and Machinery Condition Analysis programs.
o Work with department managers to identify, prioritize and coordinate sanitation and project
actions during C&M periods.
o Coordinate with the production schedule when for availability to work on equipment during
production cycles.
· Develop and implement a method to document all work requests and their completion time
and cost
· Develop and implement a system to track all downtime due to breakdowns and the
implemented solutions. Include reason, time, frequency and recommended corrective action.
· Communicate priorities of projects to maintenance personnel
· Ensures that the Ainsworth Food Safety program is adhered to
o Trains all employees in established SOP''s
o Ensures that all SOP''s are being followed
o Ensures all staff are informed of their responsibility to report food safety problems to
personnel with authority to initiate action.
· Ensures that technicians are performing all daily sanitation responsibilities
o Follows GMP''s at all times
o Ensures that technicians are meeting all GMP requirements
o Provides feedback to employees who are not completing responsibilities or violating
sanitation requirements. Institute corrective action as necessary.
o Provides input to Corporate Sanitarian on problem areas and areas for improvement
· Leads team to achieve all established goals and targets
o Creates a positive work environment for team.
o Builds and leverage team to achieve goals.
o Shares expectations and provides feedback to team leaders on daily basis
o Hold mid-year and year-end performance discussion with team leaders
o With team, develop and implement state of the team improvement plan
o Develops team members to successfully perform current and future roles
o Ensures that each shift is covered with required skills
o Establishes people schedule to ensure we are maximizing resources
o Hires all maintenance personnel
o Makes sure that people have the tools necessary to perform the work
o Deals with team members'' issues and concerns
· Manage outside contractors working in the facility
· Identify specifications for needed parts
· Assumes responsibility for own personal development and continuous learning.
· Keeps abreast on new technology, methods and regulations related to responsibilities
· Practices customer intimacy with internal and external customers in day to day
responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS
(Knowledge and skills necessary to meet organizational objectives)
Education/Training: Bachelor''s degree in Engineering or related Technical Discipline from
an Accredited Institution. Training in PLC Programming (Allen-Bradley experience preferred)
Certifications/Licenses: Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) or
Maintenance Management Professional (MMP) Certification, Certification/Training in Food
Safe / HAACP Systems
Experience: 10+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment, with a strong
preference towards experience in an SQF food manufacturing facility. 5+ years of managerial
experience in a maintenance capacity including supervision of staff and allocation of
resources.
