Title: Linux/Windows and Dev/Ops Administrator

Location: Denver CO

Duration: 18 Months

Job Summary

Provides technical and subject matter expertise to provide vision and technical line support in Linux/Windows administration and Dev/Ops. Provides deployment engineering services such as software configuration management (SCM) and Life Cycle Management (LCM In addition, provide deployment methodologies across the enterprise working with SecOps, OCC, enterprise services, and network engineering publishing and supporting deployment strategies for the State of Colorado Unemployment Insurance System Migration Project.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Applies expert knowledge of Linux/Windows and Dev/Ops to develop a framework for implementation of software and engineering services on multi-tier enterprise applications.

· Direct the creation, configuration, administration, and management of various Linux and Virtualization technologies.

· Works with customers and vendors to architect, design, validate and implement effective solutions for their needs.
Researches and validates/recommends innovative solutions to enhance and/or help with efficiency.
Leads the automation of data flow and procedures via scripting or programming with software development
tools.

· Estimates resources required for requests and projects.

· Initiates and evaluates Request for Information (RFI) process to investigate new enterprise architecture,
hardware, and software solutions.

· Researches and recommends product enhancements for major systems.

· Researches and develops solutions to resolve particular issues.
Determines which existing procedure applies to a specific installation requirement. If no procedure exists, researches and develops new procedures.

· Analyzes and tests configuration options. Where no written documentation exists, determines configuration
methods and documents for use by the team.

· Works with customers and vendors to troubleshoot issues and lead the path to resolution through collaboration
with all appropriate IT resources.

· Performs ongoing administration, configuration, optimization, performance tuning, patching, upgrades and
resource optimization as required.

· Contributes to and maintains agreed OIT standards for the solution and/or create new standards as needed. In
accordance with OIT Change Management processes .

· Manages the delivery of periodic performance reporting with logs to support future capacity planning.

· Participates/designs in disaster planning and any testing activities for the designed solutions.

· Ensures compliance with data classification regulations.

· Makes recommendations on new processes, procedures, and technology to increase the productivity or efficiency of the Project. Implements and tests innovative and effective infrastructure solutions.

· Maintains accurate documentation and diagrams for the UIM project. Maintains inventory records, including version
software for those devices that require upgrades periodically.

· Maintain policies and procedures to implement OIT standards.

· Creates procedural guides that team members use to provide predictable and repeatable implementations.

· Creates accurate and meaningful reports to provide management, team-members and customers with the ability to make informed infrastructure decisions.

· Responsible for performing other duties as assigned pertaining to Linux Administration.

Minimum Job Requirements

· Ten (10) years experience in field of IT and in Linux/Windows administration.

· Undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university in information technology,
computer science or related fields. (Relevant work may be substituted for education at the
discretion of the hiring manager

· Source Control – experience in tools such as Git version control and Github or Stash web repository hosting service.

· Monitoring and Log Management – experience in tools such as Nagios for monitoring and tools
like Splunk or Loggly for log management.

· Virtual Systems – Experience in Virtual technology, Vmware, Hyper-V or Open Stack.

· Exposure to cloud platforms like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Cloud Foundry, etc.

· Expertise in Shell Scripting on Centos (or other Unix flavors)

Licenses/Certifications Required

· Training in Red Hat, EMC, Vmware, HP-UX, Windows
