JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Linux Engineer will be responsible to day-to-day systems engineering duties (build/run) with a focus on Linux systems.
The engineer should be well-versed in Red Hat and derivatives (RHEL, CentOS, Oracle Enterprise Linux, Fedora): design, build, maintain, orchestrate, policy, and enterprise management.
In-depth knowledge of VMware ESX would be preferred as well as an operational understanding of Dell Poweredge servers.
Additional technologies: Veritas Netbackup, Spacewalk and/or RHN Satellite, Puppet and/or Chef, Docker and/or LXC, container orchestration.
In-depth understanding of enterprise authentication and authorization. Ability to work well with application engineers, developers, and QA analysts.
Working knowledge of scripting languages: (required) Bash, Python; (bonus) Ruby, Perl, Go; (nice-to-have) C, C++, JavaScript/Node, HTML, PowerShell.
Working knowledge of basic infrastructure services: SMTP, DNS, FTP, NTP, SSH, LDAP, Kerberos, TLS, SSL, HTTP, and SNMP. Databases: MySQL, Oracle, MS-SQL, PostgreSQL.
