Position : Linux Systems Administrator
Location : Seattle WA
Duration : 6+ Months


The Linux Systems Administrator works as part of the IT Operations team responsible for planning and executing the integration of Linux based products and services into a complex data center, cloud, and network environment in an efficient, secure, scalable, reliable and cost effective manner.

Primary responsibilities include evaluation, implementation and support for Linux based solutions for Clients Networks production systems and web based applications. This includes any content delivery systems, hardware configuration, custom software implementation, MySQL database administration, systems design, performance and process improvement, and systems documentation.

This position is also responsible for planning and executing small-to-medium scale projects within the Technical Operations team. Typical projects would include new business unit initiatives and updates to existing products and services that require planning, incredible attention to detail, and flawless execution.
Primary Responsibilities:

Installation, configuration, and management of Linux servers and associated technologies, such as Apache, Tomcat, and MySQL.
DevOps – Work with Clients development teams to ensure lower & production environments are being managed. This includes building out new servers, config management, performance monitoring, and code deployments.
Automation and Scripting– Automating server builds, system configuration settings, and application installs
Responsible for the physical implementation, performance, integrity, security, documentation, and support of Linux server environments.
Systems Administration and Support- executes day to day maintenance tasks including problem determination and resolution, as well as root-cause analysis. Responsible for responding to live site issues and for executing software, platform, and configuration changes.
Documentation and Training - provides and maintains documentation of systems architecture, troubleshooting and support guidelines, system metrics, project information and plans, and training information for both Site Integration and Service Operations Center staff.
Systems Management: ensures the use of performance data and historical metrics to effectively plan for growth needs, plan upgrades, migrations, and optimizations, new implementations, identify and resolve efficiency issues, and improve functionality.
Product Testing - provides support for integration testing, system testing, regression testing and load testing prior to the final release of new and upgraded products and services.
Standards and Best Practices - participates in the development of best practices including capacity planning, monitoring, configuration, security, historical metrics, recovery strategies, and migration strategies. Responsible for validation of and adherence to these defined standards.
Process: participates in the continual refinement of processes and policies to ensure the highest possible performance and availability of our storage systems.
Serve a 24/7 on-call rotation
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Experience with Linux based systems such as Ubuntu, Redhat, or CentOS
Experience with AWS public cloud technologies
Experience with scripting (bash, perl, python) and automation using products like Puppet, Chef, or Cfengine
Advanced hands-on familiarity with networking (TCP/IP) and server equipment, operating systems (Linux), infrastructure application (DNS/SMTP/DHCP etc, storage systems, and IT infrastructure operations.
Strong Problem Analysis and Solving Skills: strong ability to troubleshoot a complex issue down to potential contributing components, identify root case if possible or gather supporting evidence for escalation
Expert level of at least one OS, In depth knowledge in IT infrastructure
Strong systems analysis and design skills with broad focus on supporting systems.
Solid ability to accurately schedule own deliverables
Strong ability to effectively prioritize work, juggling daily support responsibilities with project/product driven roles and actions to automate/evolve the environment.
Qualifications:

Minimum 6 years as enterprise-level Systems Administrator
College degree in a computer discipline, or equivalent applicable experience.
Strong base of operating system and network basics through school (Associate degree), certification, or applicable experience.
Technical certifications desirable.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table. Duties require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material.
Duties may require being on call periodically and working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends
