Job Description:
Demonstrate full comprehension and maintain proficiency of the architectural components/platform for the MS SQL Database environment
Set direction and make key decisions about database design and corporate data model using technical, business and strategic information
Manage the corporate data warehouse architecture and associated data analysis/reporting software
Show the ability to understand and make efficient use of the tools available in order to efficiently complete tasks
Set standards for the development organization and provide direction on database concepts as they relate to application performance
Take ownership for technical understanding of SQL databases and their related applications software
Possess at least five years of work experience in database administration and database systems development
Experience with all major versions of MS SQL Server from 2000 through 2014
Possess advanced knowledge of database query languages
Ability to plan, organize, schedule, and manage activities
Strong problem solving, decision-making, and analytical abilities
Possess good communication skills, both oral and written
Possess ability to work with, and through, others to achieve desired results
Responsible for DB Application software/tool installation, upgrade and configuration
Manage and maintaining multiple instances of MS SQL DB (development, staging and production) with frequent scheduled and ad-hoc requests for instance cloning, backup and refreshes/restores
Manage the corporate data warehouse
Support and maintain data analysis/reporting software
Maintaining and managing patches and support calls in coordination with Microsoft
Participate in planning & design of application technology architecture and hardware configuration
Assist in designing, documenting and implementing Disaster Recovery and backup/recovery procedures with consideration for system key dependencies
Responsible for database capacity planning, sizing, performance tuning and monitoring
Establish and implement policies and procedures pertaining to data base security and maintenance in conjunction with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance
Develop testing plans, perform database testing and document results for database changes (including patch application) and upgrades
Responsible for the migration of software or execution of SQL scripts in staging and production environments.
Perform code reviews for developers to check for accuracy and optimization of SQL for reporting, interfaces and data conversions.
