A. DESCRIPTION OF WORK / DUTIES
The Consultant will be primarily responsible for reviewing, optimizing, supporting, and managing load-balancer solutions hosted by lSD for various departments within the County. The review and management success will require network load-balancing expertise in order to design, configure, implement, and support the load-balanced applications and systems.
The Consultant shall perform all of the following duties:
1. Design, configure, implement, and maintain the F5 VIPRION LTM, GTM systems.
2. Work with the application managers to support 450 load-balanced applications from F5 VIPRION LTM/GTMs located at the DC1 data centers.
3. Conduct a thorough review of the F5 deployment of the LTM, GTM, Reverse Proxy (RP) and Access Policy Manager (APM
4. Provide recommendations for architectural design including an implementation plan.
5. Execute the review and implementation plan for the long term load balance solution.
6. Troubleshoot the F5 VIPRION LTM and GTM systems and load-balanced applications when needed.
7. Conduct firmware and software upgrades to maintain the F5 VIPRION, LTM and GTM systems.
8. Provide after-hours network load-balancer support for mission critical load-balanced applications.
9. Provide cross training to internal team members.
10. Provide consultation to customers regarding the various available network loadbalanced solutions.
11. Provide documentation of the F5 VIPRION LTM and GTM configurations and provides updates to a run book.
B. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must meet all of the following qualifications:
1. Three (3) years of experience within the last five (5) years as a network administrator using, configuring, implementing, and troubleshooting Cisco network equipment for enterprise environments.
2. Three (3) years of experience within the last five (5) years as the primary support engineer configuring, implementing, and troubleshooting Citrix or F5 based load-balancing solutions utilizing Global Servers Load Balancer (GSLB) or Global Traffic Manager (GTM) and Netscaler or Local Traffic Manager (LTM) for enterprise environments.
