Junior System Administrator to provide support in server and workstation backup and SAN/NAS (storage area network/network attached storage) administration in a primarily Windows environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for: administering and supporting a medium to large production Windows infrastructure; proactive server monitoring; and troubleshooting server and workstation problems in a medium to large networked environment. Additionally, responding to and re mediating user requests for assistance, as well as providing internal and external storage and capacity reports will be required.

At least two (2) years of experience in a MS Windows server environment with some knowledge of server hardware, account and file security, storage technologies and networking (DNS, TCP/IP and domain relationships),network and operations monitoring;

A working knowledge of file shares and file sharing concepts, and experience with SharePoint site creation, modification, and removal is highly desirable.

This position shall report to the Server Manager or their designee and work alongside a team of experienced Server Administrators and Systems Analysts.



This position will receive supervision from one of two Server Team Lead Administrators. Support of server builds in reparation for production according to baseline and procedure.


· Provide Tier II and III proactive technical support and problem resolution using trouble ticketing, email, and verbal communication techniques.

· Provide Microsoft server administration to include: monitoring server status, troubleshooting issues with client connectivity, response time, server performance, backup/restore, and disaster recovery planning and testing.

· Provide management and staff with weekly updates related to tasks, projects,problems, and systems configuration.

· Cross-train in another functional administrative area to provide backup to the primary for that area during absences.

· Cross-train team member(s) to provide administrative backup for the primary responsibility area during short or long-term absences.



i. BS or BA degree,

ii. or at least have completed 60 college credits towards a BS or BA degree and candidate is working towards completing a degree in the information technology arena; and/or

iii. a current IT industry certification or equivalent experience and less than 2 years prior relevant experience.



· Excellent written/verbal skills with the ability to interpret and author well-formed documents.



· Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment



· Demonstrate good judgment in solving problems as well as identifying problems in advance and proposing solutions.



4. Clearance Requirements:

Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen willing and able to submit to and obtain a “Public Trust” background investigation.
