Annual Salary package for Full time position : 50K to 75K (depends on the experience)

JOB SUMMARY
The Electrical & Mechanical Laboratories, located in Chicago, IL, are responsible for testing of new and existing products for S&C’s development teams and for outside customers. The Power Laboratory has capability of momentary testing up to 100 kA and switching and fault interrupting testing from 15 to 210 kV utilizing 1700 MVA short circuit generators. The High Voltage Laboratory can test up to 800 kV AC and 1.6 million Volts impulse. In addition, the labs have continuous current, time-current, mechanical and environmental test facilities. The Power Laboratory, High Voltage Laboratory and the continuous current labs are accredited under the ISO 17025 for testing competency. In this position, you will report to the Manager-Electrical & Mechanical Laboratories.
Responsibilities:
Developing new test methods based on customer requirements and global and local standards.
Designing, simulating and troubleshooting high voltage and high power circuits.
Designing, scheduling, setting-up, and executing laboratory tests including documenting, evaluating, and reporting test results in a certified test report.
Managing the execution and reporting of laboratory tests to meet the requirements of the requested test standard. This includes configuring and operating the power laboratory systems (electronic drives, generators, transformers, switches, and circuit breakers
Writing functional specifications, hardware test plans, design documentation, and training documentation for laboratory test equipment required to meet global and local standards.
Designing laboratory equipment required to meet the above specifications.
Interacting with laboratory customers to determine and recommend appropriate test methods.
To select this job as one of interest to you, at a minimum, you must have the following:
BS degree in Electrical Engineering required. MS degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
1+ years’ experience with high voltage and high power circuits.
Strong desire to bring a quality service to our customers on time and within budget.
Experience with medium or high voltage switchgear and components.
Experience with IEEE and IEC switchgear test standards.
Proficiency with relevant lab instrumentation (scopes, DMMs, high voltage and high current measurements, data acquisition system, etc.
Must be self-motivated, self-starting, well-organized, and productive with minimal direct supervision.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
PLC programming and power system relaying skills considered a plus.
Knowledge of ISO 17025 preferred.
Relevant Experience Required:
One plus years’ experience with high voltage and high power circuits.
