Senior Network and Systems Engineer (Computer Crimes Unit)
This position is supporting the Client Office of Inspector General contract in Rosslyn, VA. The candidate must be able to obtain a Sensitive clearance (Public Trust
This position directly reports to the Office of Inspector General (OIG) Computer Crimes Unit (CCU) within
the Office of Investigations (OI), to maintain and integrate our client systems and networks.
Section I: Position Description
Establish, maintain, and optimize network and server performance
Install / update / maintain server hardware configurations, software, and connections
Update / maintain storage solutions, including troubleshooting to resolve issues with
compliance Facilitate OIG-OI processes and activities supporting:
o Configuration management
o Change control
o Hardware lifecycle management
o Software lifecycle management
o Security management (e.g., ISO 27001/2, NIST 800.53)
o Network management
o Application lifecycle management
Follow OIG CCU and Chief Information Officer (CIO) policies and standard operating procedures
to ensure responsive and timely top-level service to CCU team members.
Section II: Position Requirements
Primary Requirements
Maintain existing networking environment
Perform system installations and updates
Define and document server systems, storage arrays, forensic workstations, and network
infrastructure
Install / configure / administer / manage Windows Servers and network
Install / configure / administer / manage network infrastructure (cabling, switches, routers,
firewalls)
Secure server systems, storage arrays, forensic workstations, and network infrastructure
according to OIG policy and practices
Define and monitor access, maintain configurations, and execute change management controls
Perform updates and upgrades (with validation testing) and perform bug fixes on a regular
schedule for all network infrastructure, server systems, and storage arrays
Perform proactive monitoring of system logs, services, daemons, scripts, and applications on
servers systems, storage arrays, network infrastructure, and both internal and customer-facing
applications
Maintain secure and verified images of forensic systems in the CCU environment
Deploy, update, and secure all images to ensure base standard system specification compliance
for all forensic systems
Implement data retention strategies in accordance with OI and Office of General Counsel (OGC)
guidance and policy
Develop, plan, and execute CCU disaster recovery exercises
Perform routine audits of network infrastructure and propose both time-compliant and
technical enhancements
Provide third level support for all network and system-related connectivity issues
Report network operational status by gathering, prioritizing, and disseminating information
Manage CCU projects as assigned
Secondary Requirements

Interact professionally with customers and stakeholders at various levels of the organization
Develop and implement solutions to customer-identified issues or problems
Analyze customer networks and recommend areas for improvement

Support CCU and IT special projects as needed / directed
Able to work off-hours and weekends as needed for maintenance, upgrades, installations, etc.

Experience Required:
Cisco WAN/LAN experience (2 years minimum, 5+ years preferred)
Firewall experience with SonicWall or Juniper (2 years minimum, 5+ years preferred)
Dell/EqualLogic storage array experience (2 years minimum, 5+ years preferred)
NetApp storage array experience (2 years minimum, 5+ years preferred)
Network Management System experience (i.e., SolarWinds, Nagios, Zabbix, etc (2 years minimum, 5+ years preferred) VMWare (2 years minimum, 5+ years preferred)
Hands-on, working knowledge of layer-2 switched environments o VLANs o VTP o Spanning Tree o DOT1q o Port-channel Configuration o Switch builds and configurations
Experience managing, deploying, updating: o Windows Server 2003/2008/2012/2016 o AD, DNS, Group Policy, VPN, and Network Security o MS Windows 7/8/8.1/10 o MS Exchange Server, Office 365 o Microsoft Office Suite 2010/2013/2016
