Job Summary:

Under general supervision, installs, configures, and supports the local/wide area network,
systems, servers, computers and mobile devices. Performs necessary maintenance to support
network availability, and on a continuing basis provides user training and support either by
phone, remote access or site visit.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Designs, configures, and tests computer hardware, networking software and operating
system software
1. Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures to protect data, software,
and hardware.
2. Design specific software applications and macros by using existing software capabilities.
3. Designs new or modifies existing configurations to meet users' needs.
4. Ensures that computer operations and equipment follow applicable DBF policies,
procedures, and rules.
5. Escalates complex computer issues to more senior systems personnel.
Diagnoses hardware and software problems, replace defective components
1. Operate master consoles to monitor the performance of computer systems and networks, and
to coordinate computer network access and use.
2. Responds to the requests from users concerning the identification and resolution
of problems.
3. Restores service to the user in a timely and efficient manner
4. Utilizes diagnostic tools, manufacturer's help lines and other resources as appropriate to
solve problems.
5. Ensures that all customers' applications continue to work.
Escalates problems to vendor and/or developer for advanced debugging or software
correction

1. Analyzes information to determine nature and extent of customer requirement.
2. Presents most effective and feasible business area solution by recommending computer
package software or modification to existing software.
3. Prepares logical operational workflow in a clear and precise manner.
4. Creates forms, reports or import specification to meet business needs.
Evaluates new technologies or solutions to improve service and efficiency of systems
1. Develops necessary reports in a timely manner and in the format requested.
2. Produces reports which appropriately reflect both raw data and graphical representations.
3. Obtains feedback from management regarding effectiveness and functionality of
multimedia presentation and reports produced.
4. Provides any necessary back-up information and/or documentation to facilitate
understanding of multimedia presentations and reports.

Monitors network performance to determine whether adjustments need to be made

1. Perform Firewall, Router and Switch navigation and administration, including network
fundamentals, Infrastructure Services, Infrastructure Security, and Infrastructure
Management.
2. Configure networks to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business
objectives and processes.
3. Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.
4. Ensure network connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephony equipment, fax
machines, and other network appliances.
5. Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and
reports.
6. Perform server and security audits, and system backups and recovery.
Operates consoles to monitor performance of the computer systems and networks, and
to coordinate computer network access and use
1. Design, configure, and test computer hardware, networking software and operating system
software.
2. Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations, and determine
hardware or software requirements related to such changes.
3. Establishes port connections for all new equipment to the network as needed.
4. Limits user access to specific areas per user roles and business needs.
Performs data backups and disaster recovery operations
1. Monitors and maintains all network, replication and backup systems to assure optimum
performance.
2. Schedules routine backup and recovery testing of all network appliances and
configurations.
3. Performs routine testing of Disaster Recovery processes to insure all systems are in a n
operable and ready for failover always.
4. Prepares and maintains plans, documents and procedures for operation of all system
backup and disaster recovery operations.

Performs routine network startup and shutdown procedures, and maintain control
records
1. Configure networks to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business
objectives and processes.
2. Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.
3. Ensure network connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephony equipment, fax machines,
and other network appliances.
4. Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory
and related documentation and technical specifications information.
5. Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and
reports.
6. Perform server and security audits, and system backups and recovery.
Plans, coordinates, and implements network security measures to protect data,
software, and hardware
1. Sets up accounts for new employees and closes accounts when no longer necessary.
2. Collaborates with the agency’s Security staff to enforce, implement, and review system
security compliance of services and/or users.
3. Implements all approved Firewall, MDM/MAM, ACL and User Account changes as
required.
4. Establishes port connections for all new equipment to the network as needed.
5. Limits user access to specific areas per user needs.


Prepares user instructions and documentation for the installation and operation of
software and software upgrades

1. Announce training activity for selected time and location based on the needs of the
user. Insures training facility has adequate computers, terminals and training material
for users.
2. Selects and obtains training presentation material to include videos, handouts,
manuals, software, documentation, etc. as necessary. Presents information in a
timely manner easily understood by both experienced and inexperienced users.
3. Provides clear and informative responses to any questions asked during training and
researches questions that cannot be answered during training.
4. Conducts one-on-one training sessions as needed.

Entry Qualifications:


Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND One year of
related experience OR Associate's degree in a related field from an accredited college or
university AND Three years of related experience OR Five years of related experience OR One
year of experience at the lower level Systems Administrator 1 (ITP040) or position equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:


Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university
Microsoft Certifications: MCSE: Infrastructure and MCSE: Security
Cisco Certification: CCNA and/or CCNP Routing and Switching,
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
VMware VCP

ITIL v3 Certifications: Foundation
Five years of direct, hands-on, experience designing, building and maintaining LAN/WAN and
WLAN related equipment and Systems (Firewalls, IPS, Switches, Load Balancers, WAN
Accelerators, WAP)
Working knowledge of Anti-Malware, Content Management, DNS, MDM, VoIP and Unified
Communication System.
