The Systems Administrator (JIRA, Confluence, HipChat) is a key member of the Enterprise Applications & IT team that is responsible for supporting a highly available, sustainable, Jira, Confluence and Hipchat systems . Systems Administrator will be responsible for the system administration, systems architecture, documentation, and technical support of JIRA, Confluence and HipChat platforms. The successful candidate will have direct hands on experience with Atlassian Products and proficiency across the various life cycles of the projects. The Systems Administrator (JIRA, Confluence, HipChat) is responsible for administration, maintenance, upgrades, monitoring, systems management of systems and integrations with other tools or plugins.
Responsibilities:
Administer the JIRA, Confluence and HipChat environments/instances on a day to day basis including performance tuning, scaling, backups
Administer Linux servers and MySQL databases of JIRA, Confluence and HipChat environments
Analyze current JIRA/Confluence/Hipchat configurations and migrate to new instances.
Support and troubleshoot Atlassian tools and plugins; fixing errors common to Atlassian JIRA and Confluence applications, Linux servers and MySQL database servers
Build plan and execute projects for upgrade, high availability and disaster recovery of JIRA, Confluence, Hipchat.
Manage process workflows with customized notifications and processes
Provide day-to-day support, administration, maintenance, monitoring and enhancement of JIRA, Confluence and HipChat and integrations
Create complex custom projects, workflows, schemes, screens, fields queries, reports, dashboards, and virtual huddle boards
Test, install, and configure plugins and add-ons to harness the full potential of Atlassian solutions and integrate Atlassian solutions with engineering tools
Partner with cross-functional teams to design and implement on premise Atlassian solutions consistent with industry best practices.
Administer JIRA, Confluence, Hipchat and other engineering focus applications
Create JIRA projects, queries and reports as needed
Make changes to workflows, screens, fields and reporting
Manage & monitor DB, Middle-tier and OS components and all layers to deliver highly available systems
Enhance system performance monitoring and providing agreed upon SLA
Drive projects for periodic upgrades, patching and fixes
Install, upgrade and maintain plugins
Manage reindexing and optimize performance
Responsible for Configuring Security,Configuring Email, Configuring Global Settings, Server Administration, Integrating JIRA with Code Development Tools
Serve as a JIRA / Atlassian technical resource (Subject Matter Expert)
Build and maintain run-books and operational processes.
Experience/ Skills Requirements
BS and/or MS, preferable in Computer Science, MIS, or related field
5+ years of experience Linux, DB administration, Tomcat server config/tuning, JVM tuning
Strong knowledge and experience in supporting MySQL Database and Linux servers including installation, maintenance, monitoring
Experience in Apache/Tomcat configurations related to Atlassian Products
3+ years of experience Hands on JIRA Core or JIRA Software (Formerly JIRA Agile), and Confluence experience
Experience in Apache/Tomcat configurations related to Atlassian Products
Experience managing process workflows with customized notifications and processes
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work with cross functional teams
Excellent problem-solving skills, process implementation skills
Proactive thinking and ability to articulate problems, solutions of JIRA/Confluence/Hipchat issues and high availability
Troubleshoot issues for users, as needed
Subject matter expert for JIRA
Demonstrated ability to influence and consult (providing options with pros, cons and risks) around all key technical decisions
Solid technical aptitude and understanding, including ability to quickly learn new
Ability to work effectively under pressure and to meet deadlines under sometimes stressful conditions
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with different levels within the organization, as well as with the business and other technical teams
High energy, self-starter team player with an aptitude for learning new technologies
Strong sense of accountability, taking ownership over projects, tasks and responsibilities and resolving issues proactively
Reliability, dependability, and strong motivation to respond to requests quickly and provide user-friendly solution
Flexibility regarding work schedule to meet position needs outside of regular business hours
Experience of managing Oracle DB is plus
Knowledge of Java, XML, JSP, SQL experience
