As a Capital One Software Engineer, you''ll work on everything from customer-facing web and mobile applications using cutting-edge open source frameworks, to highly-available RESTful services, to back-end Java based systems using the hottest techniques in Big Data servicing small business customers. You''ll bring solid experience in emerging and traditional technologies such as: node.js, Java, AngularJS, Python, REST, JSON, XML, Ruby, HTML / HTML5, CSS, NoSQL databases, relational databases and AWS/Cloud Infrastructure to name a few.
You will:
Be a technology evangelist and thought leader; Contributes to building Capital One’s external technology brand
Responsible for the overall technical design, development, modification, and implementation of computer applications using existing and emerging technology platforms.
Develop complex applications using Java, J2EE, Web Services, Web Applications, REST, Application and Database servers, Unix/Linux.
Provide strong leadership and direction to associates, emphasizing their technical skill development
Collaborating with other platforms tech leads to ensure integrated end-to-end design and delivery
Work with business partners, architects, and other groups to identify technical and functional needs of system and determine priority of needs
Proactive monitoring of applications and services
Perform complex engineering activities for performance tuning and monitoring
Identifying gaps and taking actions to completion
Break down problems in the production environment to analyze, understand and resolve
Understand how evolving technology affects the domain; stays current and leads team through new technologies
Proven ability to recruit associates with exceptional technical and creative problem- solving skills
Evangelizes Agile and drives continuous improvement in methodology and practices


Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
At least 5 years of Java EE technologies for Middleware and Backend Integration
At least 3 years of experience with Github
At least 3 years of experience with Jenkins
At least 3 years of experience in Cloud technologies: AWS, Azure, GCE, Ansible, Chef or Terraform
At least 1 years of experience in ECS, Kubernetes, Mesos, Marathon, Swarm, or Docker
At least 3 years of experience in database technologies SQL, No-SQL, RDS, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or DynamoDB


Preferred Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in leading and managing other engineers on large-scale projects
5+ years of experience in developing RESTful APIs using Spring and Jersey or similar frameworks and deploying on public cloud
5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance technologies and around test automation
5+ years of experience with languages J2EE or Python
5+ years of experience with Agile methodologies Scrum, SAFe, and Kanban
Certified in Java, Spring or AWS
