JOB TITLE: JAVA APPLICATION DEVELOPER (needs some C



SUMMARY: Participates in technical design, development, testing and support of corporate business applications. Developer works in conjunction with business clients, IT team members, and external resources to accomplish development of systems that add value to the company. These systems are critical to daily operation of business units and can impact profitability of the company.

REPORTS TO: Application Development Manager



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



Analyze and interpret written business requirements and produce technical specification documents for development of business application projects in accordance with the project leader/end user business requirements.
Perform development according to business requirements and technical specifications.
Gather user requirements and create a business requirements document when necessary.
Integrate applications with back-end database structures.
Create, document and implement unit test plans and scripts as well as conduct unit testing during and after development is completed.
Perform maintenance on any defects found in both unit testing and end user testing.
Create and maintain technical documentation on development projects.
Successfully work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Work under direction of application manager and in conjunction with project managers.
Provide end user support and maintenance of all newly developed and existing applications.
Possess the ability to professionally interact with project team members to include business customers, project managers, IT team members and managers.
Work with project team members on tasks and assignments as required.
Participate in project team meetings and follow project plans, processes and reporting requirements.
Must possess the ability to work in a team as well as the ability to work independently on tasks and projects.
Senior level developers are required to provide leadership, guidance and direction for junior level developers.
Maintain source code in version control system repository. All changes to source code must be checked into the versioning control repository daily and must only exist on corporate equipment.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.



Experience: Strong analytical and problem solving skills as well as object oriented design and development skills. Skill set to include, but not limited to, some or all of the following: General understanding of relational databases and SQL, excellent communication skills (written and verbal Experience in the following skills are required: Java J2SE, Swing Development, J2EE Web Development, JavaScript, HTML, .NET, PHP, AJAX, JSP, XML, and SQL. The following skills are helpful, but not required: Knowledge of web services, NetBeans, Eclipse, Salesforce, APEX, IIS, DB2, Microsoft SQL Server, .Net Framework, C# Development.



Complexity: Responsible for development of assigned application development projects and maintenance of existing systems.



Impact: Self-starter with the ability to gather/interpret business requirements, maintain and support existing applications, and develop successful business applications. Failure to deliver could result in inability of the business to operate.

External –Third party application developers etc.



Confidential Data: Has knowledge of confidential data when the work requires its use.



Assets: Responsible for maintaining all source code and documentation for each project.



Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Travel required between Varsity operating units. Overnight travel based on business needs, but generally would be less than 10%.
