Actual Job Requirements:
This is a leadership role responsible for the management of the Java Hosting Platform using JBoss Enterprise Application Platform, Linux/UNIX, and other J2EE software products.
You will be part of a shared-services organization providing (PaaS) Platform as a Service to our Line Of Business partners. This includes leading efforts of continuous improvement in the areas of: operational support, platform health and stability, capacity planning and working with application development teams to improve the service offerings for Java platforms.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Work with a global team of professionals to build and support an enterprise-grade, rock solid Java hosting platform in a shared services environment. Relentlessly improve service availability, reliability and quality. Design and implement Java hosting services leveraging hybrid cloud principles.
Build and support continuous integration and continuous delivery practices for the platform.
Troubleshoot and resolve application server issues related to the platform. Create support tickets and work with vendors as needed.
Manage the daily operation of Java Application Servers and associated DMZ infrastructure. Monitor resource utilization, including such items as CPU, memory, and disk utilization.
Report on system utilization and plan/implement recommended maintenance as required.
Perform impact analysis for appropriate tasks.
Participate in an on-call support rotation.
Work with other teams in the design and configuration of secure access to JBoss resources.
Apply and promote patches.
Implement “Infrastructure As Code” principles leveraging configuration state management toolsets such as SaltStack.
Troubleshoot and research problems through log file mining and analysis.
Work with Developers and Database Administrators in the implementation of new applications.
Maintain documentation related to infrastructure and architecture of associated systems.
Assist in recommendations and execution for disaster recovery of Java hosting environments.
Become familiar with IT operations and make recommendations for improvement where appropriate.
JOB REQUIREMENTS :
Expertise in middleware application hosting platforms such as JBoss, Apache Tomcat, Apache HTTPD Server experience required.
IBM WebSphere Application Server knowledge a plus
Experience with SaltStack or Puppet, OR similar strongly preferred.
Experience with Java monitoring tools such Wily Introscope, JBoss Operations Network, or similar a plus.
Strong Linux or Unix experience required.
Ability to effectively communicate technical direction and challenges to management, and execute upon direction
Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to other technical staff members
Ability to interface well with Professional Services staff and other non-technical members of the organization
Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies
Ability to work both independently and with a team
