Role: Dev Ops/Triage Engineer
Location: On-site, San Jose, CA
Duration: 3 to 6 plus months contract
Start Date: ASAP
Senior DevOps Engineers play a key role in building a global infrastructure that supports the rapid growth of Nutanix. The DevOps Engineer will implement infrastructure, automate and orchestrate services, triage deployment, update inventory databases, deploy OS and application security including managing roles, access rights for LDAP and single sign-on.
DevOps Engineers for this role are often called upon to design and code micro-services that fit the businesses needs for highly dynamic laboratory environments. This is a critical IT function, so the candidate must have extensive experience in virtual environments, Linux systems server software, networking integration, storage systems, and data center server infrastructure and operations. We are looking for infrastructure automation developers to help build a next generation environment during a Data Center migration
Responsibilities:
· Design and develop automation software for testing and analyzing performance, reliability, and scalability.
· Work closely with development, test, documentation and product management teams to deliver high-quality products in a fast-paced environment.
·
· Python scripting, REST API’s, Google Sheet Parsing (scripted)
· Designing and maintaining a scalable and highly available infrastructure to support the IT organization
· Supporting the engineering organization in troubleshooting issues with the infrastructure (server hardware, networking) and software applications
· Monitoring the utilization of resources, maximizing efficiency and reducing cost
· Coordinating closely with the Engineering team on hardware deployment, service upgrades, and outages (planned and unplanned)
· Serve as the technical lead for a team of system administrators and DevOps engineers
· Mentor emerging technical talent and serve as a technical guide
·
· IPMI, and debug SW vs HW issues
Requirements:
· Expert working knowledge of Linux Systems (Redhat/CentOS, and Ubuntu Candidates should be familiar with the complexities of supporting servers and applications located in multiple time-zones.
· Love of programming and skilled with Python and experience with some web development, GoLang, and Salt is a must
· Server Administration, TCP/IP Networking, and Storage
· DNS/DHCP: Enterprise IPAM (Infoblox), Debugging DNS and DHCP issues
· Development experience in file systems, operating systems, database back-ends, distributed systems management, Cloud technologies or VDI
· Strong problem-solving skills
· Experience deploying and managing enterprise-quality storage infrastructure
· Experience using virtualization technologies such as AHV, VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM
· Evaluate and recommend systems software and hardware for the enterprise system including capacity modeling.
· Understanding of basic protocols (DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, LDAP)
· Python scripting, REST API’s, Google Sheet Parsing (scripted)
· Comfortable with Cisco, Arista CLI
· Layer 2/Layer 3, Simple routing, Spanning Tree, MLAG, LACP
· Solid debugging skills and strategies
· Interface types, 1/10/100Gb, Cu and optical

Stronger Candidates will also have:
· Experience deploying and maintaining Nutanix AHV or KVM
· Experience with Windows Storage Server is a plus
· Windows Systems knowledge is a plus
· GitHub
· Exposure to managing projects

Qualifications
· BS or MS in Computer Science or related field is required.
· Minimum of 5 or more years of Systems Administration experience.
