The Department of Global Pediatric Medicine (GPM) is a new and growing academic department looking for professionals who are eager to help implement the mission of taking St. Jude to the world. This major GPM initiative, known as St. Jude Global, has three goals: to train the clinical workforce, develop and strengthen health systems and patient-centered initiatives, and advance knowledge to sustain continuous improvement through research. Via a rapidly expanding infrastructure and unprecedented collaboration in regional networks, St. Jude Global is the natural evolution of the work St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital started 20 years ago with the International Outreach Program. And now, St. Jude Global will improve the survival rates of children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases worldwide.

Responsibilities

GPM is currently seeking an experienced instructional design professional to serve as an Instructional Learning Designer. Designer will collaborate with GPM faculty and staff, global partner-sites, and other St. Jude departments to design, build, deliver, and manage educational content for use in distance and blended learning environments as well as the Cure4Kids medical education website.

The Instructional Learning Designer is responsible for educational design and administrative tasks, including:

Serving as the administrative manager for the learning management system (LMS)

Designing and developing innovative educational packages based on knowledge of the latest learning methodologies.
Performing project management tasks for blended and online courses.

Participating in team strategic planning to ensure alignment and attainment of education team goals and objectives, as well as to enhance communication between the education team and faculty/departmental clients.

Writing and editing content using multimedia development tools, software, and hardware.

Facilitating and supporting continuous quality improvement initiatives; helping develop and revise education team
policies and procedures.

Collaborating with the Graduate School to provide and facilitate distance and blended educational components associated with the St. Jude Global Academy Master’s degree program.
Maintaining the software, hardware, and media equipment inventory for the education team.

Minimum Experience

Three (3) years’ experience that includes web-based learning programs, administration of learning and content management systems, multimedia development, instructional design, web design, and video recording, production and editing.

Excellent verbal communication skills.

Exceptional writing and editing skills.

Demonstrated ability to plan and coordinate multiple projects/work initiatives.

Proficiency in Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Outlook Calendar tools, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Advanced ability in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite or similar programs.

Special Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Knowledge of computer programming, software packages, and operations, including multimedia authoring tools (Adobe Creative Cloud/Suite, Articulate 360, Storyline, Camtasia, Captivate); web-authoring tools (HTML, JavaScript); audio and video recording and editing.

Ability to work within a team, organize and prioritize tasks, and exercise independent judgment.

Knowledge of a second language strongly preferred. Fluency in a second language preferred.

Experience in the medical setting and knowledge of medical terminology preferred.


Ability to plan and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.

Cultural sensitivity is a must.

Minimum Education

Bachelor’s degree in Learning/Instructional Design, Education/Instructional Technology, Adult Education, or related field
Master’s degree highly preferred.
