Position: Software Engineer

Description:
Ownership of assigned critical implementation/production events and providing technical analysis and insight into the current condition and recommended solution.
Participating in the subsequent analysis to determine the source of the issue and a recommended plan to avoid it in the future.
Analysis of key customer service and implementation issues.
Installation, configuration and upgrading database software and tools.
Understands all current features and evaluate new platform features and determine strategy for the application of new features
Establish and maintain sound backup and recovery policies and procedures. Create, plan and test scenarios.
Implement and maintain database security policies.
Perform database tuning and performance monitoring
Performance analysis (physical database tuning, reorganizations, optimization, optimal hardware environment, capacity planning
Setup and maintain documentation and standards.
Verify/Review project plans and scope of production upgrades, application releases and implementations.
Create and implement maintenance plans for releases and upgrades.
Execute physical database changes required by applications
Add space to tables and tablespaces.
Add or modify rollback segments, undo retention, etc.
Add or modify data files - increase or decrease to change size of the database, relocate. Add, modify, and/or remove databases objects (tablespaces, tables, storage procedures), users roles and profiles.
Monitoring - performance, process log, troubleshoot database related issues.
Maintain database support scripts.
Scripts - develop and maintain database startup, shutdown, backup scripts.
Plus, develop and maintain database or system specific scripts such as load, clone, standby, purge, report, etc.
Maintain documentation on production database environments.
Maintain Database Platform Application Processes
Such as Concurrent Manager, Oracle Application Users, replication etc.
Solves complex performance issues
Owns the long term vision and evolution of the production database environment, and translates the database architect’s strategic direction, into the strategy for their domain
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have some related software engineering/application troubleshooting experience in databases, editing and inserting content in database tables. Financial institution and data process vendor interface knowledge is required.
Experience with C++, UNIX, CGI development, SQL Informix, DHTML, HTML, and Java Script is a requirement.
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, a strong customer orientation and good organizational skills. Individual must be process orientated, self-motivated and somewhat creative.
