JOB DESCRIPTION ::

This position is responsible for the physical development, implementation and maintenance of the database management systems and underlying databases for Froedtert & Community Health''s Information Systems. This environment primarily includes Oracle, Cache, and Microsoft SQL Server databases running on UNIX and Windows platforms. This position will also assist the Applications team in the installation and support of major business application and data warehousing initiatives supporting the hospitals'' end user departments. Will work closely with Team Lead and Manager to ensure that the database environment delivers at a service level consistent with organizational risk, information access requirements, and business strategies. Position works to improve or maintain a high level of database system performance and availability through the implementation of sound technologies and consistent Works with other IS department staff to ensure proper implementation of computing infrastructure in support of business application initiatives. Works closely and professionally with Database Administration team members to promote teamwork, stewardship, and accountability. Provides technical consulting on moderate to complex IS initiatives. Evaluates existing systems and procedures, and makes recommendations for improvements as required. Reports to the Manager, Technical Infrastructure and works under the general direction of a Database Administration Lead. Must provide updates regarding the performance and availability of the Database environment and proactively work to resolve problems. Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

-Five or more years of relevant database administration experience is required.
-Certified SQL Server 2012/2014/2016; and/or Oracle 12c certification
-Knowledge of computer principles at a level normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technology field or acquired through a combination of education and experience is required.
Training
-Experience in a hospital or healthcare setting is preferred.

Job Standards:

-Assesses database management systems needs and capabilities of the organization. Makes regular reports to management concerning the current state of the technical environment and makes recommendations for improvement as required.
-Works on design, implementation, and support activities for database management systems and the underlying database structures.
-Develops and executes work plans for the design, build, and implementation of databases. Meets deadlines and quality requirements. Provides technical expertise to other project team members as required.
-Works with management to set measurable and attainable goals related to database systems availability and performance. Works closely with rest of team to meet goals on a consistent basis.
-Ensures proper system backups are completed to ensure recovery on a timely basis for an on-site recovery or an alternative site recovery
-Works closely with the IS Security Team to maintain or reach high levels of security and to develop, implement and test the disaster recovery plan for the organization''s network and data centers
-Identifies and acts to resolve technical and functional issues related to database environment including system down, performance, and usability concerns. Must consistently demonstrate strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
-Proactively monitors databases for potential performance problems, capacity issues, and intrusion.
-Prepares required system documentation to aid in troubleshooting, disaster recovery practices, security initiatives, and cross-training.
-Demonstrates a continually improved understanding of the overall F&CH technology infrastructure including UNIX servers, network, Intel based servers, and security
-Effectively produces high quality results for both project and support efforts.
-Keeps current on database technology trends and issues through seminars, publications and self-education on an on-going basis.
-Conforms to formal departmental methodology standards including project management, change management, testing, and security requirements.
-Demonstrates effective behaviors as outlined in the organization-wide core competencies.
