Description:

A Solution Engineer''s responsibilities include assisting with project infrastructure costs, schedule preparation and resource forecasting. The primary deliverable of the SE is the project Design Proposal Summary. The SE works with United Architecture and Engineering teams to ensure designs meet approved infrastructure standards. Once complete, the engineer submits these designs for governance review and approval. The SE is often responsible for capacity planning and analysis, standards enforcement and vendor assessment.
Engineers create IT designs by reviewing project proposals and requirements; conferring with IT architecture and platform subject matter experts.
Assists Infrastructure Project managers with tasks and responsibilities in the Design and Build phase of the delivery
Leads or participates in Vendor assessments or Proof of Concept.
Assists Infrastructure PM with preparing technical cost estimates.
Assures application designs meet availability and performance requirements required by their tier designation.
Presents design proposals at ARC committee and reports recommendations back to the project team.
Submits and monitors all Build activities; tracking action item owners to resolution, resolving issues and mitigating risks.
Enforces and conforms design work to United IT Security standards and practices.

Required :
BS/BA, preferably in a Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent experience, education or training.
Strong understanding and demonstrated usage of Solution Architecture.
At least 5 years’ experience in Requirements Analysis and Infrastructure or Network Design.
Proven analytical and problem solving abilities.
Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
The ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of employees and management.
Work is on-site.

Preferred
Experience with the following technologies: VMWare, NetApp, AWS, Azure, TIBCO, Container (Kubernetes), LAN/WAN Equipment
Vendor management experience including ongoing work and new vendor engagement (negotiation, SOW’s, RFP’s)
Experience with automation, infrastructure as code, continuous delivery
Experience participating or leading design sessions
Proven track record of partnering well with the business and ability to suggest technical solutions to business problems
Financial analysis and CBA experience
Possibility of extension, no conversion.
