Overview of Role
CLIENT IT Field Services Engineers provide engineering, development and design, installation, and support for globally deployed Client power plants. These Power Plants provide fast-track power for industrial applications all over the world. The IT Field Services Engineer is a self-starter and must be able to operate both individually and as a member of a highly matrixed team. This position requires technical collaboration, and often requires a quick understanding of emerging technologies for unique solutions. This position requires an understanding and appreciation of multiple job roles, and frequently requires a team effort with sales, operations, management, IT and other engineering disciplines. This position must provide effective and positive feedback to Client team members on difficult solutions and must be able to describe technical requirements to other team members for a successful solution. Typically, as the only IT Support staff at a remote power plant, IT Field Services Engineers are the subject matter experts for all Information Technology support and services at remote locations.

Job Responsibilities:
Serves as single point of contact for all Power Plant Information Technology requirements; Serve as Business Relationship Manager between IT Support Staff and Plant Operations Departments.
Perform onsite installation for all network, systems, services, and support equipment and if required, manage 3PC or contractor installers.
Source, install and configure local ISP services and devices for plant connectivity, i.e. satellite, DSL/ADSL, Fiber, WiMax, Microwave p2p, 3G/4G/LTE.
Route and interconnect plant automation and SCADA devices for industrial data communication and controls.
Provides responsive/consistent follow-through on all issues and actions.
Serves as Tier 2/3 support for all Plant unique Service Requests (SR); champion SR escalation regarding Plant support.
Supports R&D process for plant operating systems and services.
Maintain technical documentation for all Plants, to include but not limited to As Built drawing overlays to the GA, system technical specifications, SOPs, and user knowledge articles.
Supports on call duty shift for all CLIENT Enterprise Service Delivery
Independent travel to remote locations around the globe (must have passport and/or ability to gain a passport Travel Requirement up to 40%.
Coordinates and communicates with controls engineers, site operations personnel and Enterprise Service Support to ensure stable and consistent data collection and system availability.
Administer OSI PI and ION Vista applications both as a power user (configuring asset framework, implementing PI Points, interface administration) and as systems administrator (performing Tier 1 and 2 maintenance support)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
5+ years of hands-on IT/network installations.
Experience installing, configuring and troubleshooting Windows Server 2012/2016 and Windows 7/10 desktop platforms.
Exceptional command of Active Directory administration.
Experience with configuration of network devices including switches, routers, firewalls, cellular modems, Ethernet radios, and server/workstations.
Experience with networking technologies including routing protocols and VLAN configuration.
Experience with 802.11 wireless applications including bridging, routing and encryption
Understanding of cellular networking applications including GSM, GPRS, EDVO, HSPA, HSUPA and LTE.
Experience with industrial automation technologies such as PLC, DCS and SCADA.
Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions and to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
Self-starter. Ability to improvise and think on your feet.
Ability to communicate information and ideas in speech and writing to technical and non-technical customers.
Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team, as well as independently. Being a true team player is a must.
Familiarity with OSI PI and ION Vista systems and applications
Working knowledge of applicable North American and European electrical codes (i.e. NESC, IEC) is preferred.
Working knowledge of NERC, FERC, WECC standards and orders as they apply to power generation design and compliance is preferred.
Knowledge with Substation Automation, Protection Relays and Plant Controllers is prefered.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in an IT related field from an accredited university or college preferred. Experience can be substituted in lieu of degree
Related professional certifications are a plus: MCSA, MCSE, VCA, VCP, ITIL
