Job Description :
IT Consultant (SQL, Oracle)
Location: Santa Cruz, CA (Remote is an option after initial 3,4 weeks)
Duration : 12+ Months Contract

Technical skills:
Most important general IT skill is the unix scripting, file transfer management, and working with an ODS/Oracle database custom loader.
The mainframe skills are for operations work when key employee staff are on vacation.
Need some onsite time for cross training 3-4 weeks and then if they show they can deliver results remote is an option.

Responsibilities:
Focus: Receive cross training and provide operations services for a variety of PPS mainframe job streams for SHR, Payroll/FIS and DWH, and interfaces for Office of Sponsored Projects (Cayuse) and ETAS (Enterprise Time and Attendance) division/units.
Some development work and participation in UCPath DDODS Loader and CruzPay, testing through all major milestones.
May make programming/documentation updates to the local automation scripts of the DDODS Loader and all processes moving data.

Technical work
RH Linux, Shell Scripting, Mainframe JCL/MVS/TSO, and system to system integrations working with SFTP/SSH/HTTPS.
Experience with managing an Operations Data Store, ODS. Oracle database, PL/SQL or SQL programming skills.
Familiarity with setting up and managing schemas. Coordinate work with DBA’s and application admins.

Testing
UCPath DDODS, CruzPay & ODS environment Unit testing, integration testing cycles, if needed support Parallel Payroll Testing, UAT support between Feb 2019 - December 2019.
From January 2020 - March 2020 may perform stability period testing and retire various job streams.

NOTE: The Mainframe Operations work (JCL and running various jobs, is a relatively small amount of work/week. Just a few hours based on the business process scheduled calendar. Usually in the mornings PDT. Most of the work will be operations Red Hat Linux scripts, Oracle database, and general IT testing skills. So proficiency with PL/SQL, SQL, SQL Developer, TOAD, and understanding schemas is important.
Some programming in the Linux scripts area or improving/modifying existing scripts that perform file transfers and handle error conditions.
