Job Title: IT Applications Analyst (SAP Tax)
Location: Houston, TX-77032
Contract Duration: 3 months (Contract to hire)
Opportunity Profile:
The Sr. Applications Analyst is responsible for ongoing production support, system design, enhancement, configuration and delivery of IT solutions in the areas of SAP Tax. This position will closely interface with customers to gather functional requirements for new projects and establish a strong trust relationship with those customers. Functional support of some related, non-SAP applications will also be part of the scope of responsibility.

Essential responsibilities include:
Strong SAP skills in the Tax area, with the capability to perform analysis and develop relatively complex applications to support VAT, GST, SST, withholding tax, etc. Job duties include the following activities:
Provide production support for SAP Tax with a focus on the General Accounting module and integration points with other SAP modules and non-SAP applications to ensure business processes are maintained in a non-disruptive manner.
Knowledge of Vertex, OneSource and integration with SAP.
Perform analysis of enhancement/new technology requests from the business and collaborate with business, IT, and vendors as needed to arrive at best solution.
System design, configuration and delivery for IT solutions in the area of SAP Tax.
Work with business process owners and other support teams to define and prioritize solutions for new problems, projects or opportunities as well as to identify potential cross impact across the General Accounting processes.
Interface closely with business users to facilitate requirements gathering using interviews, document analysis, business process descriptions and use cases.
Ability to interface effectively with people at various levels within the organization up to and including the Senior Manager level.
Prepare detailed functional specifications and work closely with ABAP developers to define effective solution design for SAP Tax.
Perform project activities such as documenting business requirements, project setups, analyses, designs, quality assurance reviews, system deployment, training, and project setup/support, etc, for/with customers.
Prepare application support documentation and facilitate knowledge transfer.
Assist in preparing project estimates and timelines.
Ability to create and execute integration and regression test scripts as well as coordinate User Acceptance Testing with business users.
Provide guidance to junior team members on system/process analysis and coordinate work with the offshore team.
Proactively identify opportunities for improvements in systems and processes.
Coordination with other IT teams as necessary including other application areas, Architecture, Security, Application Development, Quality Assurance, DBA team, Division Project Services, etc.
Similar duties are often associated with the selection, acquisition, installation and configuration of applications licensed from third parties, and interaction with vendors is required.

12+ years of experience performing systems analysis, system design, product selection, applications support and/or maintenance and configuration within the SAP FI Tax module for VAT, GST, SST and withholding tax.
Solid understanding of the end-to-end General Accounting process, including the following SAP aspects:
o Sales and Use Tax
o VAT Tax
o GST Tax
o SST Tax
o Withholding Tax
o General Ledger
Familiarity and solid understanding of third party tax solutions, such as Vertex and OneSource, and their integrations with SAP.
Gathering requirements, creating functional specification documentation, problem solving for the SAP General Accounting Applications module and interaction with internal or external users.

Strong oral and written communication skills
Solid technical knowledge and ability to express complex technical concepts in terms understandable to the business
Ability to translate business requirements into functional specifications and system designs
Good understanding of the integration points across various SAP modules
Strong analytical skills for creating optimal solutions for the business
Ability to work effectively while multitasking in a stressful environment
With a keen attention to detail, ability to work independently and prioritize workload as appropriate
Strong teamwork skills and ability to develop working relationships
Ability to interface effectively with people up to Senior Management level
Proven ability to work within multiple projects, achieving objectives in a timely manner
Experience with SAP Fixed Assets is a plus
Written and spoken Spanish is a plus

Skills are typically acquired through completion of an undergraduate degree in Accounting, Computer Science, Information Systems, Management Engineering, Systems Engineering, Finance or related degree.
SAP FICO certification a plus
