The IMS System Programmer is responsible for the support and operation of a variety of database technologies on the mainframe.

Responsibilities:
Monitor databases to insure up-time and availability on the mainframe
Review, and apply changes to database structures. Add/modify tables, views, indexes, functions, procedures, synonyms as appropriate when required to support a business process or need.
Work with development staff to identify performance bottlenecks and recommend changes required to improve database performance
Work with internal and external resources to facilitate the design, development, and deployment of the corporate data warehouse that will support the Business Intelligence reporting environment
Provide on-call support as required
Insure data integrity by developing backup/recover/restore processes for each production database
Develop data models for each database
Provide access to database structures as required via application of grants and/or permissions
Ability to troubleshoot and manage problems independently
