Role Title : IBM DB2 DBA
Location: MECHNICSBURGH ,PA
REQUIRED SKILLS:
8+ years of experience with DB2 SQL development and DB2 administration
Experienced in analysis, architecture, design, installation, configuration, administration, operation, and maintenance of database systems
Experienced in supporting very large, complex automated systems using both custom and off-the-shelf enterprise and business applications. Expert-level skill and knowledge in database design and development, as evidenced by the following:
Experience working with IBM PureScale
Experience working with IBM Data Studio
Candidates have experience with DB2 UDB for Linux
Expert-level skill and knowledge of following database design, development, and administration-related concepts, methods and tools:
Physical and Logical Data Modeling (e.g., with UML)
Database Definition Language (DDL)
Writing SQL stored procedures
Index analysis
Normalization and de-normalization
Referential integrity
Data replication concepts
Locking Strategies
Reporting Tools
analytical processing (OLAP)
Proficiency in writing SQL procedures, functions and packages for administration and application support and experience with Q replication, Range partitioned tables, Hash partitioned tables, Replicated MQT and MDC
Experience in working with db2 specific tools such as db2pd, db2dart, db2support, db2top, db2inspect, db2advis, db2explain, db2diag
Demonstrated ability to solve complex systems and database environment issues.
Experience providing appropriate Database Performance tuning support with regards to storage I/O, buffer pools, query access plan assessment and creation of required database structures including indexes
Experience in DB2 LUW pure scale installation and configuration, including upgrading and patching
Should have strong UNIX platform skills and understanding of network, storage, tiered application environments and security
Experience in HADR/Q-Replication Configuration
Good interpersonal skills along with effective communication (both written and verbal) skills
Must be self-driven and a team player with a solid work ethic
Flexible to work after o64259;ce hours, weekends and on public holidays
Required Responsibilities :
Conducts SQL query tuning and optimization in a DB2 environment
Monitors and tunes DB2 using IBM Data Studio
Provides management of databases, backup/recovery, archiving, space management, table performance tuning
Provides Logical and Physical data modeling
Works with application groups to design and implement the database requirements
Provides DB2 security, provide assistance for BIND problems
Interacts with operations staff on production problems and ensure adequate production procedures are in place
Provides assistance to end users SQL requests
Monitors and tunes database performance during testing and production operations; coordinates and implements database sizing/resizing, restructures and index rebuilds; assists with capacity planning for future database growth; documents benchmarks and procedures needed to optimize performance; ensure that all performance guidelines are followed
Develops and modifies database definitions including entities, attributes, relationships, and referential integrity triggers. Maintains detailed database design documentation
Develops, maintains and supports procedures, standards and interfaces for centralized database management
Installs, patches, upgrades, maintains, and supports DB2 in all environments
Implements database access procedures including User ID administration
Implements Database Change Requests (DBCRs), i.e., data repairs
Assists application development and maintenance staff with database questions and issues
Plans and implements strategies and procedures for physical disaster/recovery and contingency planning. Establishes mechanisms for replicating production databases in development environments
Provides problem resolution support, specific to database issues; identifies and resolves database problems, coordinating with application users to determine symptoms and ensure accurate problem definition
Assists in development and improvement of database administration-related plans, processes, procedures, standards and priorities.
Maintains detailed knowledge of all database administration processes, procedures, and quality standards
Preferred Skills:
A relevant certification, such as IBM Certified Database Administrator
