Functional Safety Engineer at Detroit, MI

Responsibilities:
The Functional Safety Engineer will be involved with the development of the future semi and fully autonomous driver assistance systems and enablers
Understand and negotiate Development Interface Agreements, requirements, change requests, and unwritten expectations with vendors and other engineering teams.
Perform Functional Safety Analysis as per ISO 26262 standards during all project phases (concept, product development, production) including HARA, ASIL identification, DFMEA, FMEDA, qualitative and quantitative fault tree analysis(FTA), common cause analysis and Event Tree analysis.
Understand technical details enough to generate documents or work products required by the ISO 26262 standard.
Develop Functional & Technical Safety Concepts and Safety architectures to ensure compliance with ISO26262.
Own the Functional & Technical Safety Requirements and diagnostics requirements from conception to production at the system and sub-system level.
Collaborate with System Engineers, architects, and designers to find optimal implementations of safety diagnostics in hardware and software.
Drive collaboration between various software and hardware teams for functional safety.
Ensure technical specifications and other work products are prepared, and stored correctly, and revisions are managed and released in timely manner.
Support validation and verification activities for ADAS Systems and Vehicle level.
Support design for manufacturability, manufacturing builds, and launch.

Qualifications:
BS Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering from an ABET accredited university
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with sub-systems and systems level development related to LKA/LKS/ADAS products
Minimum 3 years within the area of functional safety
Trained in ISO26262 (highly desirable)
Trained in Medini analyze or equivalent tool highly desirable.
Proven ability to apply the V-model development process
Proven competency in Systems Engineering - Active Controls, Communications Protocols
Trained in both DVP&R and DFMEA creation and execution
Trained in requirement management tools (DOORS preferred)


Preferred Qualifications:
Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other Engineering degree from an ABET accredited university
Experience in developing sensor Camera, RADAR, LIDAR and or WIFI/GNSS/Cellular fusion frameworks
Knowledge of Wireless Technologies LTE, UMTS, 802.11 ac a/b/g/n, Sensors, SoC and communication interfaces I2C, RS232, USB, Ethernet, CAN
Working knowledge of OEM or Tier1 development process
