Financial Analyst

Location: Hartford, CT
Duration: 6 months

Summary:
Finance Manager Role with accountability to assist financial consolidation and reporting & analysis within the International business unit.

The ideal candidate will have strong financial skills with the ability to dig into the details and summarize findings.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
- Monthly and quarterly reporting of International results, including consolidation of country financials, and creation of segment packages with direct input into the International Whitebook.
- Partner with Actuarial and Claim to monitor and report against large and weather related loss activity across International. This includes ownership of the International Large Loss report, involvement in quarterly reserve reviews and analysis of monthly loss ratio trends.
- Prepare reports to summarize and forecast business activity and financial results. Provide high level analysis and recommendations for corrective action as necessary.
- Assist in the preparation of the International Plan and reforecast.
- Contribute to the achievement of business objectives through the accurate and timely identification and resolution of accounting issues/opportunities.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with members of the financial/accounting and business communities within International, BI&I and Corporate. Work to streamline any reporting needs.

Experience, Skills & Competencies:
- CPA or CMA preferred but not required
- TM1 and ledger knowledge a plus
- Proven technical expertise in accounting and financial analysis practices and principles.
- Ability to develop new analytical tools and reports and improve existing tools/reports to gain efficiencies while maintaining appropriate standards.
- Understanding of insurance products and Income Statement accounts and related GAAP accounting.
- Interacts effectively with all levels of the organization and external parties.
- Strong Excel skills and ability to present data effectively and creatively
- Three years of financial/accounting reporting experience required
