8+ years relevant work experience in database architecture that includes senior level experience in data modeling. 6+ years of SQL experience. 5+ years of Metadata experience. Master level experience in ER Studio including creation and use of macros to automate tasks. Solid understanding of relation database technologies as well as data warehouse architectures. Experience in data modeling in a financial services provider organization is a plus. Performance optimization and management for relational and dimensional models. Must have experience in managing metadata and supporting data governance initiatives. Must be self-motivated, able to work independently, and highly responsible in maintaining time critical projects schedule. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. JOB DESCRIPTION: This position provides Data Modeling, Mapping, and Management support to the Federal Reserve System Retail Payments Office department for specific customer mission requirements by mapping legacy data formats to and creating new formats within the enterprise data set. Specific duties include: • Performing high-level requirements analysis to support application of data standards across the enterprise. Duties require a broad range of knowledge including information technology, requirements, technical architecture analysis (e.g., understanding data flow diagrams, system architecture diagrams, etc, and an understanding of functional and system analysis. • Define and analyze data requirements, map legacy data stores and formats, create new data structures. • Coordinate, meet, and hold Technical Peer Reviews with Subject Matter Authorities and Stakeholder communities to discuss and perform requirements and impact analysis to understand the data elements in their domains, relationships among those elements and interdependencies between models. • Develop and maintain domain logical data model artifacts: Logical Data Models (LDM), Data Element Dictionaries (DED), Physical Data Models (PDM), Interface Control Documents (ICD), data format specifications, model release documentation, user guides, data harmonization and mappings. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Translate business and data requirements into logical data models adhering to defined data modelling standards and industry best practices. • Consult with Database Administrators and Developers to translate Logical Models into a performant Physical models • Provide guidance to data analysts in performance of analytic and data quality functions. Support analysis and profiling of the most complex data needs. • Consult with our Business Partners to understanding their business needs and recommend solutions. Translate complex technical concepts into something digestible by our business partners. • Build relationships with Subject Matter Expert (SME) of the respective source system development teams. • Assist in defining strategy in areas such as Data Integration, Architecture, Data Quality, Meta data Management and Master Data Management. • Act in a consulting capacity to the development team. Utilizing their extensive knowledge of the application they will understand functional enhancements, consider all potential impact and provide advice on the most appropriate solutions & potential problems. • Ensures adherence to data management/data governance regulations and policies. • To a certain degree, may be involved directly or indirectly in the technical build-out and/or support of databases, query tools, reporting tools, BI tools, dashboards, etc. that enable analysis, modeling, and/or data visualization. • Develop, document, and maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models for data warehouse and business intelligence solutions. • Generate physical Data Definition Language (DDL • Develop and maintain source-to-target mapping documentation. • Provide technical consulting and advises teams and customers on the design of conceptual and logical data models resulting in an efficient and effective physical design for enterprise data solutions. Experience in data modeling for projects that use Oracle database technologies. Perform data model design reviews and evaluations to ensure that the group standards and best practices are being adhered to and the resulting physical databases meet project needs. Develop, maintain and enhance data modeling and database design documents, policies, procedures. Collaborate with the application developers, architects and project team on logical and physical database design and implementations. Provide expert level guidance on dimensional modeling, on maintaining data histories, and conformed dimensions. Prepare high quality documentation of design architecture database infrastructure documents. Assist in ad hoc projects, assignments and responsibilities as necessary.
