Position: Tivoli Administrator
Location: Cambridge, MA
Interview: Phone & Face 2 Face
Duration: 6+ months with possibility of extension (s)

Description:
This position is for a Backup Administrative/DevOps Engineer for IBM’s Tivoli Storage Management (TSM)/Tivoli Spectrum Protect (preferred but extensive experience with another enterprise backup platform is worthy of consideration.

The role will require solid technical skills. Including - setup and configuration of backups using IBM’s Tivoli Storage Management (TSM), setting up backup retention and rotation plus tape handling responsibilities.

Configuring system components ongoing maintenance and restoration of backups and addressing backup issues.
Experience with application connectors like TDP for Oracle and TDP for Exchange.

Essential Functions:

Work Planning:
Work collaboratively with server, database, storage, network, and additional cloud administrators to effectively support overall infrastructure organisations.
Collaborate in project planning processes within own function.
Create and share development estimates and operational requirements to enable accurate planning with realistic timelines.

Requirements:
Performance Analysis of backup environment
Evaluate requirements for projects to determine the impact to the infrastructure such as equipment redundancy and capacity requirements.

Determine systems specifications, input/output processes and working parameters.
Work with impacted areas to ensure proper communication/review of requirements and integration.
Daily verification of Backup Jobs and Restart of failed jobs, as required

Design:
Create technical design specifications.
Work closely with architects to assure all systems are in line with IS&T’s long-term strategy.
Review technical design specifications developed by less experienced team members.

Development:
Follow technical design specifications to develop/build, test, debug, plan and execute IT systems.
Coordinate development activities with other groups.
Lead or provide technical direction for planning, designing, and executing tests.
Communicate issues across multiple teams.

Integration:
Integrate with and augment OS, infrastructure and software-defined network and security platforms.
Lead the integration of third party applications and systems.

Change Management:
Review production and test change requests with appropriate IT groups and resolve discrepancies and dependencies.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Programming/Systems or Computer Science or other related field preferred.

Minimum of 6 years of direct TSM experience or 8 years of relevant experience with a BA degree. Minimum of 10 years of direct TSM without a BA degree.
Must be available to participate in routine on-call schedule.

Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret complex problems or processes, identify and understand requirements, and develop alternate solutions within IBM’s Tivoli Storage Management (TSM) tool; experience with Tivoli Spectrum Protect preferred (TSP
Possess strong documentation skills along with the ability to train junior lever personnel on day to day data backup task.

Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Demonstrated experience in a large storage environment with formalized change-management practices.

Demonstrated experience with application connects (e.g., TDP for Oracle, TDP for Exchange, etc.
Strong communication (oral and written) and presentation skills to effectively collaborate with all levels in ways that support problem solving and planning.

Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams in pursuit of common goals.
Experience designing, developing, testing, and deploying applications/systems using proven or emerging technologies in a variety of technologies and environments.

Troubleshooting skills and root cause analysis of issues for IBM Tivoli Storage Manager(TSM)/Tivoli Spectrum Protect(TSP
Be available to respond after hours.
Has experience working in a large storage environment with formal change management practices

Desired Qualifications & Technical Skills:
Working knowledge of virtualization (public and private clouds); such as VMware vSphere, AWS, and VMware Cloud on AWS.
Software development and release engineering experience a plus.
