Test Conductor Engineer

Location : East Aurora NY

Duration : 6+ Months

GENERAL FUNCTION:

Under the supervision of a Test Manager, the Test Engineer/Conductor is
responsible for performing the tests of assigned programs as well as
engineering solutions to testing issues. As a Test Conductor, the incumbent
will set up and perform tests, measure and record test data, and review and
analyze test results.

NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION:

The Test Department has the responsibility of managing, overseeing and
performing test of all end products. The majority of the products are high
precision electromechanical & electro-hydraulic devices used on commercial
aircraft. Therefore, each hardware must undergo rigorous tests in ambient,
vibration, thermal and vacuum conditions. This requires test procedures to
be written, test schedules to be generated and maintained, and products to
be tested and managed until delivery.

The Test Engineer/Conductor will be involved in a program from the early
stage to the completion of the program. The Test Engineer/Conductor may
perform research and estimating during the proposal phase, deal directly
with the program manager, the project engineer, and to a limited extent, the
customer in defining test requirements and parameters, and work with and/or
direct technicians to perform tests.

The Test Engineer/Conductor will be responsible for performing and
overseeing electrical, mechanical, functional, environmental, and
examination tests. This will involve manual set up of test, actual
performance and monitoring of test, manual and automated measuring and
recording of test data, and computer assisted analysis of the test results.
Therefore the incumbent should be comfortable with hands-on type of work,
have high attention to detail, have background or previous experience with
computer programming, and be proficient with the computer and MS Office
tools. The incumbent will learn to operate motors and motor drivers, use
various electronic measurement devices, operate thermal vacuum chambers and
vibration shaker, and generate a variety of mechanical test setups from
written procedures.

The Test Engineer/Conductor will also be responsible in supporting the Test
Manager in various engineering tasks. This will involve researching and
defining test parameters and methods as well as generating test procedures
and reports. It will also involve reviewing and verifying test results,
troubleshooting and fact-finding test discrepancies, updating or modifying
work instructions, maintaining test schedule, and directing and overseeing
technicians to a limited extent. Therefore the incumbent should have
excellent communication and organizational skills, proficiency in technical
writing, and good analytical skills. The incumbent should also be a quick
learner, self-motivated, work well in a team environment, multi-task, and
take ownership of a task with minimal supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Since this is an entry-level position, no experience is required. However,
the incumbent should have the following requirements:

1. B.S. in engineering or related field.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILIES:

As a Test Engineer/Conductor, incumbent''s principle responsibilities
include:

1. Setting up and performing tests; measuring, recording, and analyzing test
data with minimum error and maximum efficiency.
2. Setting up, sustaining, and monitoring environmental tests (thermal
vacuum, oven, vibration
3. Troubleshooting to resolve test discrepancies.
4. Writing test procedures & Reports (which require a thorough understanding
of the product, requirements, and the associated tests) and updating or
modifying work instructions.
5. To a limited extent, interfacing with the customer during program reviews
and customer meetings to determine testing requirements and methods
