Test and Validation Engineer

The Electrical Test and Validation Engineer is responsible for ensuring quality designs through comprehensive requirement testing and validation. Specifically, we are seeking an individual that can develop and execute embedded software and module testing capability strategies to elevate our electrical test methodologies to world-class. We are looking for high-energy engineering talent to transform our test and development department into a highly-effective, strategic force within Engineering. In this test engineering roll, individuals will have the authority, support, and autonomy to execute the vision as well as establishing themselves as high-respected contributors.

The position offers the opportunity to work on a variety of different components, subsystems and vehicles. The position requires the technical expertise to develop and lead product validation testing, drive to root cause for quality and reliability issues, interpret technical agency standards, and conduct projects in accordance with engineering excellence.

Expectations:

· Full understanding of how to accelerate and correlate our electrical test methodologies including the statistically correlated methodology of test legs, similar to GMW3172.

· Develop a prioritized roadmap of needed Embedded Software test capabilities and execute the strategy.

· Act as a change agent and build validation (physical and analytical) capabilities throughout the department according to our test vision.

· Tailor your communication and leadership style for maximum effectiveness and influence across all levels of the organization.

· Drive diligence and collaboration in requirements, analysis, modeling, DFMEA, testing, acceptance criteria.

Core Responsibilities:

· Generating a functional test setup that use cases can be easily executed on

· Writing test scripts that cover all use cases shall be documented and traceable back to the requirements. At least half of the test scripts are automated

· Create User’s manual for the operation of the test bench including Test guideline’s that explain the process of developing test scripts and documenting coverage percentage

· Accelerate and correlate our electrical test methodologies including the statistically correlated methodology of test legs.

· Develop a prioritized roadmap of needed Embedded Software test capabilities and execute the strategy.

· Act as a change agent and build validation (physical and analytical) capabilities throughout the department according to our test vision.

· Drive diligence and collaboration in requirements, analysis, modeling, DFMEA, testing, acceptance criteria.

· Employ project management methodologies that ensure a predictable outcome for department goals and responsibilities.

· Develop and execute a strategy for world class testing methodologies for electrical systems from the component level to the vehicle level including Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL

Develop and execute a strategy to validate software and controls, preferably model to code generation using Matlab/Simulink.
Develop and execute a strategy for world class data management and analytics including remote DAQ and CAN networks.
Develop and execute a strategy for calculating the statistical distribution of both product life and field duty cycles.
Develop DVP&R’s (Design Verification Plan and Report) ensuring traceability from requirements to validation.
DFMEA (Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) participation.
Develop laboratory test plans, analyze test data and write technical reports.
Automate test setups and data reporting.
Standardize test procedures through the development of test guidelines.
Correlate lab testing to field duty cycles.
Drive culture of traceable test acceptance criteria using reliability and confidence in designs

Education and/or Experience Required:

Bachelor''s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science is required and 6+ years’ experience in Electrical and/or software testing is required.

Essential Skills or Knowledge:

Matlab and Simulink.
Hardware in the loop knowledge.
Controls and software capabilities.
MotoHawk ECU and Pi Innovo or similar.
Embedded software debug tools.
Controller and hardware knowledge.
Strong interest in DAQ (Data Acquisition) equipment and testing methodologies.
Experience with sensors.
Modeling and simulation experience.
Reliability and statistics capability.
Project management.
Problem solving (9-step, 8D, etc.
Ability to write software and test scripts.
Competency in Microsoft products including, Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint required.
Ability to lead a team and work as a member of a team.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent technical, analytical, and problem solving skills.
APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning
Must be tenacious with quality and customer service orientation.
Knowledge of the appropriate product safety and testing standards.
Six Sigma Green Belt or Lean Six Sigma trained or certified a plus but is not required.
Thorough understanding of the Engineering financial impact and a basic understanding of the needs and impact of other functions on the business
