Job Title: Electric Utility Enterprise / Solutions Architect
Duration : 12 months
Work Location: Irwin dale, California

Relevant Experience : 10+ years
Technical/Functional Skills:
Strong understanding of operational aspects of electrical utilities; this includes but is not limited to standard grid operations; NERC, FERC and NAESB regulations; energy markets; long term planning etc.
Strong understanding of information technology aspects of electrical utilities; this includes but is not limited to operational technologies such as EMS, OMS, DMS, AMI, SCADA etc. as well as enterprise technologies such as SAP, customer portals, SharePoint, etc.
Strong understanding of financial aspects of electrical utilities; this includes but is not limited to internal business case preparation, understanding of general rate case preparation / rate design, financial reporting through accounting standards such as GAAP or IFRS etc.
Strong understanding of U.S. grid modernization roadmaps / programs such as Department of Energy Grid Modernization Initiative, NY REV, Californian IOU smart grid plans, smart city, etc.
Strong understanding of Enterprise Architecture frameworks such as TOGAF and Zachman
Intermediate understanding of emerging technology within the electric utility sector; this includes but is not limited to artificial intelligence, robotics process automation, drones, augmented reality, etc.
Intermediate understanding of specialized subject matter areas such as risk management, asset management, statistical forecasting, records management etc.
Intermediate understanding of data management concepts such as data warehousing, master data management, data lake architecture, big data & analytics etc.
Intermediate understanding of technical areas such as databases, networks, application architectures, cloud infrastructure etc.
Basic understanding of communication technologies used by utilities; this includes but is not limited to areas such as backhaul/WAN/FAN (ex. IP networks, frame relay, MPLS etc NAN/LAN (ex. RF mesh, PLC, etc and HAN/PAN (ex. ZigBee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth etc
Experience Required:
8+ years combination of software development, business analysis, application support, technology support and/or enterprise architecture
5+ years working with multiple utility operational technologies
2+ years specifically in utility enterprise /solution architect role
Coordination with geographically dispersed teams
Roles & Responsibilities:
Specific responsibilities include (but not limited to):
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
Contribution and assessment of business requirements
Solution design based on business requirements
Business and operational strategy contribution specific to electric utilities
Ability to lead and coordinate operational, project and/or technical teams; can include being “parachuted” in to resolve project crisis
High flexibility to communicate and work effectively “along the elevator”: from executive leadership to frontline workers
Generic Managerial Skills:
Demonstrated success as a self-starter
Strong problem-solving skills using a methodical approach
Ability to create consensus among different stakeholders
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to the project/application stakeholders
Education:
BA/BS or even Masters in electrical engineering, computer science/engineering or equivalent experience
Portfolio or Program management (PfMP or PgMP) a strong plus
TOGAF certification a strong plus
CISA certification a plus
COBIT certification a plus
