Job description:
North Dallas client is seeking a Developer to assist in development and maintenance of a complex, multiple-product fuel control and customer loyalty application suite.
The candidate will be responsible for development of distributed, real-time applications, participating in code and design reviews, and executing unit and performance testing. The candidate will interact with the team lead as well as other team members while implementing new features/functions. The candidate will also be required to work with the Quality Assurance and Customer Support departments on research of and remedies for software bugs and issues found during QA, beta, and production.
The candidate is expected to be a self-starter, and will receive mentoring from leads and architects on new assignments. More than 90% of the code base is middleware, device integration and business logic written in VB6 and C While C# is the primary programming environment moving forward, a significant portion of the software is in VB6 and will require some amount of maintenance.
Responsibilities & Tasks:
· Assist in Development and Maintenance of multiple-product customer loyalty application suite.
· Participate in code and design reviews
· Executing unit and performance testing
· Work with departments on research of and remedies for software bugs and issues
· Development of distributed, real-time applications
Experience Required:
3 years of experience in CNet
Multi-threaded applications
Unit and automated testing (TDD/BDD experience a plus)
Windows services and DLL development
Experience with low-level communication protocols
Serial and TCP/IP interfacing
Binary and XML/text messaging formats
· Must be able to analyze vendor specifications, deduce requirements and make sound development decisions
· Must have exposure to VB6/VBA/VBScript
· Object-oriented development
· Must be able to multitask on a variety of projects and tasks
· Understands the fundamentals of project management and SDLC methodologies
· Candidate must be a career-oriented individual with strong communications and organizational skills. Must be willing to interact well with clients and internal business units
· Must have a high-level of motivation and commitment to excel
· BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience - no degree required
· Experience in agile development environments is a plus
· Experience with point of sale, retail fuel, or real-time credit payment processing is a huge plus
· Experience interfacing to fuel/retail devices (VeriFone, pumps, etc is a huge plus
· Experience with data security standards (PCI, PABP, PA-DSS, etc is a plus
· Experience in UI/UX and real-time development is a plus
