Title: Disaster Recovery Specialist

Assignment Duration: 6 months with possibility to hire

About the project:

The IT Disaster Recovery Lead will work with the Technology Infrastructure Operations (TIO) leadership and functional teams to ensure that DR capabilities across technology environment will meet the Recovery Time (RTO) and Recovery Point (RPO) objectives.
The role will report to the Program Manager of Disaster Recovery and will need to be both functional and technical to handle all aspects of a DR program, and responsible for development of a sustainable DR Program across the organization.


TOP 3 must-have skills:

Strong experience and knowledge of DR strategies across various traditional and cloud environments, AWS experience is highly preferred
Strong background in utilizing an Agile approach (SCRUM, Kanban etc for a large enterprise
Experienced in doing Business Impact Analysis (BIA), identifying gaps & potential impacts of events to prepare Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and Recovery Point Objective (RPO) that meet business needs and contractual obligations


Experience and Education

Minimum 10+ years of IT experience
4 to 6 years of experience in planning and executing Disaster Recovery operations for a large globally distributed enterprise
Strong background in utilizing an Agile approach (SCRUM, Kanban etc for a large enterprise
Experienced in doing Business Impact Analysis (BIA), identifying gaps & potential impacts of events to prepare Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and Recovery Point Objective (RPO) that meet business needs and contractual obligations
Proven experience in leading DR exercises, testing, maintenance, and audit program for an organization
Ability to establish and maintain a company-wide disaster recovery awareness program and serve as the subject matter expert
Ability to lead projects and work autonomously with minimal supervision
Bachelor’s degree in technology, finance, business, or equivalent experience required


Key Responsibilities

Implement and maintain a comprehensive IT Disaster Recovery program using an Agile approach
Conduct Business Impact Analysis (BIA) exercises to ensure all plans are maintained in line with changing business requirements
Maintain ownership and accountability of service continuity plans
Responsible for completion of ITDR recovery procedures; work with technical teams to populate ITDR recovery procedures/plans
Ensure that application/service recovery plans are up-to-date, comprehensive and reviewed periodically
Actively manage and coordinate testing schedules, objectives, exercises and reviews
Responsible for management of the ITDR calendar incorporating the activities designed to monitor the effectiveness of the ITDR framework
Collect and document information about current systems including applications data, hardware, network and infrastructure, and their dependencies to populate in the CMDB
Conduct TIO ITDR awareness and briefings
Prepare, review, and support approval of contractual proposals relating to all emergency response services
Support the closure of Audit and Risk Management activities
Develop and maintain audit parameters for DRP
Track progress of treatment activities in the ITDR risk register
Track progress of activities in the incidents and actions register and the periodic review of that register
Maintain compliance with corporate and public regulations
Identify and make recommendations for improvement to existing processes and procedures
Periodic review and update of ITDR policy and process
Develop management reporting and metrics
Participate in the steering committee schedules, meeting and outcomes
Conduct management review, monitor and report on performance targets and service level data that provides measures of success


Technical Skills

Strong experience and knowledge of DR strategies across various traditional and cloud environments, AWS experience is highly preferred (Azure, Hyper-V, VMware & other environments)
Familiarity with ISO 22301 Business Continuity Standard
Desired continuity certifications: Associate Business Continuity Professional ABCP, Certified Functional Continuity Professional (CFCP), Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) or similar
Desired project governance certifications: Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar
Experience in backup technologies and processes
Experience with ITIL and/or ITSM is highly desired
Knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC)
Excellent negotiation skills
Strong stakeholder relationship management skills
Experience partnering with other project stakeholders to resolve issues and to mitigate project impacts
A results-oriented outlook with the ability to prioritize and deliver key initiatives
Experience collaborating with others in IT management roles to deliver shared results
Detail-oriented and the ability to handle multiple concurrent priorities
Experience using MS Project, MS Office and MS Visio
