Job Description:
We are a world leader in the designing, engineering, and manufacturing of advanced passenger rail vehicles and high-speed trains. We have produced rail cars operating in some of the world’s most populous and rapidly evolving cities and countries, including Beijing and Singapore.

We manufacture and refurbish railway high-grade passenger coaches and high-speed EMUs (manufactured by the joint venture BST); Refurbishing, assembling and rebuilding of rail transit equipment, such as various types of locomotives, passenger coaches, rapid transit vehicles, and so on; Manufacturing of road-rail vehicles and different types of special railway cars; Manufacturing of accessories for railway locomotives, and passenger coaches; Technical service for locomotive and rolling stock; Metal hot-working, export and import and other business.

The company has five major industrial structures and manufacturing bases, covering manufacturing of railway high-grade passenger coaches, refurbishing of railway high-grade passenger coaches, manufacturing of spare parts for locomotive and rolling stock and energy corollary equipment, casting and forging and logistics. Our Parent Company, has been in existence for 117 years.

In 2016, we were awarded a contract, for up to $1.3 billion, by the CTA to supply more than 840 new railcars. We believes Chicago’s new railcars should be built locally and will hire and train local residents for more than 160 good-paying, head-of-household jobs.

Responsibilities:
The Production Director directs a brand new, single-site manufacturing operations through a team of functional managers and supervisors. The Production Director also ensures increasing levels of customer and employee satisfaction while improving the efficiency of manpower, materials and machines, and is ultimately responsible for 100+ employees.
Direct and manage plant operations
Monitor production, and implement lean manufacturing principles
Develop and implement plant operations procedures, policies and practices
Lead production department to assure safety, quality, productivity and delivery to meet customers’ expectations
Coordinate production, maintenance & repair activities and plant safety initiatives to obtain optimum operations of the facility and to improve a safe working environment
Work with technology & quality, procurement & logistics, marketing, and accounting departments to meet production delivery date
Develop monthly production schedule based on corporate Master Schedule
Establish a motivated, solid team of an hourly workforce, and maintain a trusting relationship in unionized and diversed environment
Work in conjunction with HR department on employee issues
Monitor and report KPIs on a weekly basis to leadership
Collect and analyze data on capital asset, operating expenditures, manpower
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
B.S. from a four-year college or university
10+ years managerial experience in manufacturing assembly plants; experience in rolling stock, aviation, and heavy trucking assembly industry or related industries preferred.
Exposure with managing a Union environment.
Familiar with manufacturing based technology, processes and principles.
Knowledge of inventory management, supply chain management, production scheduling and plant operations.
Experience in new manufacturing start-up preferred.
