Job Description:

The available position is for a Director of Network Architecture and Planning to support a long tenured client's major enterprise Fortune 100 customer.

The candidate will be required to reside in the Orlando, FL area due to the requirements of the position.

Supporting this client’s environment will be an exciting opportunity for any prospective candidate as it has been well-established with some of the finest technologies and supporting personnel within client.

The primary responsibility of the Network Architecture and Planning Director will be to implement teams and processes to support the standards and requirements set forth by the customer and delivered by the client's Operations and Projects Teams.

The Director of Network Architecture and Planning will be responsible to support the delivery teams supporting network, voice, security and client's managed applications.

As such, the candidate will be supported by a talented cast of directly reporting technical managers and architects.
Additionally, the director will be supported by a project management office and tools teams.

Responsible for the success of environmental standards which are implemented:

Ensuring accurate and complete documentation has been received from the customer

Providing training to the operations teams when standards updates occur

Ensuring the operation’s teams have the proper readiness to support new technologies and or environments prior to the customer requesting for them to be deployed (e.g.: assist operation’s with training, run book creation, monitoring, management tools, reporting, billing, etc

Developing techniques and delivering reporting to measure standards compliance in the environment

Developing mass change automation to support standards deployments

Supporting the operation’s automation team with development of solutions

Conducting lab testing of standards to ensure environmental compatibility and identification of software defects
Creating deployment scripts utilized by the operations teams

Responsible to assist with developing new solutions and designs:

Development may occur in partnership with or outside of the customer

Conducting lab testing

Vendor collaboration

Assist with major first time deployments

Complete new solution documentation and training for the operations teams

Responsible for the delivery of the Global Project Team:

Provide escalation support with the customer on pricing and delivery

Assist with solution designs as required

Work with the customer to resolve design gaps and issues

Ensure proper resource planning and billing is occurring

Ensure proper delivery between the Project Management Office, the Global Projects Team and the customer is occurring

Assist the customer with the priority setting of projects

Communicate design gaps to the customer

Ensure timely and accurate communications to the customer are occurring

Identify deficiencies within the service, directly create action plans and provide appropriate oversight of actions plans to completion

Responsible for Pricing

Management of the Global Project Team’s pricing catalog

Create and obtain approval for service charges for devices managed by client.

Audit or Compliance Liaison

Support audit requests and provide evidence

Review compliance gaps and develop solutions to measure future conformance

Work with the operations teams to remediate compliance gaps as required

Identify and assist remediation efforts to ensure supporting organizations are properly delivering services to the operations teams (e.g.: Procurement, Network Operations Center, Tools, Facilities, and etc

Recruits, develops, coaches and counsels subordinates

Provide strategic vision, direction and motivation

Secondary Job Functions:

Assist client and customer account executives with strategy planning and other duties as assigned

Correspond regularly with client and customer senior management

Assist service delivery managers with resolving escalated issues

Assist, propose and participate in employee functions and or recognition plans

Propose and communicate client's services to the customer

Assist the customer with business continuity planning

Support weekly communications to the client's Account Executive and the customer’s Senior Vice President of IT Operations

Assist the supporting client's organizations with:

Resource modeling and pricing

Budget forecasting and new sales initiatives

Statement of work (SOW) creation

Contract amendments

Education or Experience:

5 plus years as a director, senior manager or service delivery manager supporting network services is required
10 plus years of direct IT management experience required
Direct experience with managing network and application architects is desired
BA or BS Degree required
Thorough understanding of load balancing technologies (F5 a plus), data center routing or switching (Cisco ASR, Nexus, 6500, etc, wireless technologies, LAN/WAN technologies and other general network and application technologies is expected
Understanding of general project planning principles is expected
Past budgetary and or sales forecasting responsibilities preferred
History of managing technical managers preferred
Industry certifications (e.g.: CCNA, CCNP, CISSP, ITIL) a plus
Past server mid-range and or application experience a plus
ITIL understanding or background a plus

Position Requirements:

Must be a strong leader who is capable of managing multiple deliverables simultaneously.
The candidate will be escalated to by client and customer representatives to address current or future needs in their area of responsibility.
Must have a strong technical acumen for all technologies delivered by client to the customer and have the ability to discuss technologies at an executive level.
The candidate’s leadership will be counted upon for significant communications with the customer and to assist with proposals.
Ability to effectively communicate issues, remediation plans and status on major initiatives to all levels of leadership
Ability to direct and interact during major initiatives
An understanding of basic project management principals is necessary due to the significant amount of projects that the candidate’s teams will be responsible to deliver.
Must have the ability to review detailed project plans and identify major oversights.
Ability to understand basic accounting principles and to forecast budgets and or sales initiatives
Ability to utilize Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Ability to work evenings and weekends as required
Travel requirements are expected 1 to 2 times per year

Interpersonal Skills:

Ability to interface with non-IT savvy business partners as well as technical staff

Ability to articulate challenges effectively to client and customer executives

Ability to construct action plans and provide oversight to ensure delivery

Candidate will possess a high-level of written, verbal, presentation and negotiation skills

Responsible to meet directed deadlines and excellent attention to detail

Self-starter with excellent time management skills
