Sr Linux/Unix Systems Engineer in Keene, New Hampshire

Duration: FULL TIME

We have a need for a resource with experience in Linux on the team. With integration and acquisition of other businesses this will also become more important.
Responsibilities
Create, automate, provision and deploy Linux/UNIX based operating systems / applications rapidly and at a very large scale on both physical and virtual platforms
Ensure system stability, scalability, security and performance
Daily administration tasks around Linux/Unix OS, LVM administration, Patch management, User and security administration, Cron job management, Shell Scripting, Printer management and Performance monitoring/tuning
Operate, monitor and maintain Linux/Unix infrastructure to include provisioning, incident troubleshooting w/resolution, and availability
Maintain systems by applying operating system updates, firmware packages, and security patches
Provide Unix/Linux systems administration, which includes user administration, application support, preventative maintenance, backup, and recovery, and system automation through scripting as required
Provide project management and system architecture expertise as needed
Become familiar with Client’s standard operating procedures, and ensure that they are followed
Work with other IT teams - providing troubleshooting and architecture support, maintain excellent communication between internal IT groups and external vendors and resources
Create and maintain accurate documentation for storage and server hardware environment, procedures, topologies, and configurations
Maintain storage and server system components in compliance with supporting vendor requirements
Create and maintain technical documentation surrounding infrastructure environment
Manage systems to reduce incidents, decrease complexity, improve end-user experience and increase stability of supported systems and processes
Daily administration of a Large Enterprise Storage Environment consisting of local and remote Storage Area Network (SAN), Network-Attached Storage (NAS), and storage virtualization systems.
Operate, monitor and maintain storage infrastructure – to include storage provisioning, incident troubleshooting and resolution, monitor use and availability of storage resources.
Perform tasks as directed by management
Maintain current knowledge of technology trends
Maintain a positive work atmosphere
Guide and mentor junior team members
Participate in shared weekly on-call rotation as needed
Act as a 24x7 escalation point for internal team members
Qualifications
Technical Bachelor''s degree or equivalent experience
5+ years of experience with Linux administration in large enterprise environments
5+ years of experience in Unix/Linux (AIX/RHEL) systems administration
5+ years Installing, Configuring and Troubleshooting RedHat Linux 5.x/6.x/7.x
Experience in deploying various flavors of Linux in VMware environment
Experience with shell scripting
Familiar with major cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, …)
Familiar with VMWare vSphere, vCenter administration
Experience with various storage and server technologies
Must be available to work in a shared weekly off hours on-call rotation
Experience working with vendors to replace failed hardware
Good understanding of networking ¬¬¬¬¬concepts
Strong written and verbal communication skills

Able to devise technical solutions to remediate problems

Experience with IBM, EMC, and NetApp and other Enterprise Storage systems is a plus
Experience With IBM SVC and Storwize systems will be a plus
Experience with Cisco MDS, Brocade or other SAN fabric devices is a plus
Experience with IBM Metro/Global Mirror data replication is a plus
Limited travel may be required
