DATA/SYSTEMS ANALYST (SQL/SSRS/SSIS/POWERBI)
LOCATION IS greater seattle WA. 40 min north of seattle, Near Everett, Redmond
Job Description
Responsibilities:
Assess business needs - Consults with functional unit management and personnel to identify, define and document business needs and objectives, current operational procedures, problems, input and output requirements, and levels of systems access
Acts as a liaison between departmental end-users, technical analysts, information technology staff, and others in the analysis, design, configuration, testing and maintenance of systems to ensure optimal operational performance
Analyzes the feasibility of, and develops requirements for, new systems and enhancements to existing systems; ensures the system design fits the needs of the users
Tracks and fully documents changes for functional and business specifications; writes detailed universally understood procedures for permanent records and for use in training
Identifies opportunities for improving business processes through information systems and assists in the preparation of proposals to develop new systems and/or operational changes
Provides technical assistance in training, mentoring, and coaching professional and technical staff.
Defines reporting and alerting requirements where applicable. Reports on common sources of technical issues or questions and makes recommendations to improve
Participates in user acceptance testing and testing of new system functionality
Watches out for ways to improve monitoring, discover issues and deliver better value to the customer
Assist local and corporate IT support staff as required.
Other projects and duties as assigned.
SQL Development work? I see nothing in the responsibilities related to doing the actual development/coding work. All about requirements gathering and other roles associated with a Business Analyst.
Competencies:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Information Technology, or Computer Science from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience
Technical certifications in data analytics or database administration highly desirable. Examples include MCDBA, MCSE, CAP
7+ Years of experience and strong competency in MS SQL Server Suite including SSRS, SSIS, plus Power BI
5+ Years’ experience gathering user requirements and developing them into a technical solution
Experience integrating multiple business systems (including but not limited to Oracle EBS r12, Salesforce, Arena PLM)
Experience reverse-engineering legacy MS SQL-based business systems and developing replacement systems based on current industry standards and best practices
Strong written and verbal communication, including technical writing skills required
Experience in analyzing data to draw business-relevant conclusions and in data visualization techniques. and tools
Ability to assess and validate activities and determine if a solution has fulfilled the requirements
Experience in driving the design/review of test cases, process change requests, and manage a project’s scope, acceptance, installation and deployment
Ability to prioritize requirements and create conceptual prototypes and mock-ups
Knowledge of best practices for effective communication and problem-solving
Comfortable interfacing stakeholders from all levels of the organization in particular with C-level executives
Proficient note-taking and brainstorming skills
Understanding of SDLC, Agile development environment and associated tools, including Jira, Github, and others preferred
