Job Description:
This resource will be a Front-End UI Developer on
Basic Function Utilize current digital front-end development techniques to develop and manage the user experience of M&T Bank’s online properties.
Specializes in the presentation of content stored within the enterprise CMS. Collaborate with Marketing and Technology teams to update the bank’s digital properties and internal web tools to support user and business needs.
Create innovative solutions to site functionality/design challenges to make the website more visually appealing and enhance usability. Custom development solutions to support a variety of interactive campaigns and microsites. The implementation of customized design concepts and functionality leveraging advanced web development techniques is also required.
All customized functionality must meet accessibility standards.

Essential Position Responsibilities
Performs basic to complex front-end development activities leveraging skills such as HTML5, XHTML, XML, JavaScript, jQuery, CSS3, SharePoint 2013. Plays a key role as an individual contributor on complex projects. Assists the client in addressing problems/issues of any scope.
Determines feasible solutions and makes recommendations. Should be able to educate/mentor junior resources and coordinate front-end development tasks on small to medium scope efforts or on specific phases of larger projects.
May project manage small to medium scope efforts.
Participates with other development staff, operations staff and IT staff, as appropriate, in overall system and integrated testing on small to medium scope efforts or on specific phases of larger projects. Performs testing and debugging to launch high-quality solutions.
Evaluates and understands complex interrelationships and effects among programs and interfacing applications.
Prepares assessments and task plans to include required tasks, estimated time frames and effort for assignments. Recommends new technology, policies or processes to benefit the organization and improve deficiencies. Provides consultation services to clients, technicians and Bank departments on basic to intricate functions of M&T’s digital properties.
This may include the review of system capabilities, operational procedures, forms and marketing materials. Performs other related duties as required, which may include participating in due diligence, cost/benefit analysis, vendor analysis or business study activities.
Follows and promotes the use of development standards and procedures. Maintains very good working knowledge of the supporting application(s), development environments and the supported client environment.
Nature and Scope
The incumbent works under the supervision of the Manager of Digital Content Engineering and may receive general direction from a more senior team member. The Digital Front-End Developer I is competent to work independently on most all high level systems analysis and technical phases of development. The incumbent interacts with other technology personnel, clients and vendors.
Basic Qualifications
Minimum of two to four years college with at least six years involvement in systems analysis and application development, or in lieu of education eight years of relevant experience. Requires a thorough knowledge of the system development life cycle and application development alternatives. Requires experience with state of the art application development support software and hardware platforms.

Technical Skills
Experience in HTML5, XHTML, XML, JavaScript, jQuery, CSS3, SharePoint 2013 Experience in industry-leading Content Management Systems/concepts Experience with web accessibility standards Proficient in utilizing development tools, application support software and hardware platforms. Demonstrates a high aptitude for complex problem analysis and resolution. Ability to lead or actively participate in technology walkthroughs. Propensity for learning new technical skills.
