Data Warehouse BI Analyst

We will have a position open at Treasury due to the upcoming retirement of one of our staff at the end of September. This is a Data Warehouse BI Analyst position that crosses over into technical work. The person in this role works with the Treasury clients to understand their needs related to the Treasury (tax) data on the Teradata DW, creates and runs SQL jobs on the DW, and also does some data modeling and database work. Below are the required and desired skills for this position.

Required Skills/Experience:

5+ years’ experience working as a Data Analyst, Technical Business Analyst, Systems Analyst or Business Analyst experience in a Data Warehouse project environment
5+ years’ experience working with end users/customers to understand system and business issues and perform technical analysis to understand and develop requirements and solutions
5+ years’ experience with Data Modeling/Database Design
5+ years’ experience with SQL; Teradata SQL Assistant, MS SQL Server
3+ years’ experience developing test data and test scenarios
Ability to facilitate customer requirements gathering meetings/sessions
Must be able to work independently and not rely on State or other team members
Must be able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with programmers, analysts, immediate supervisor, management, system users, operations, other State agencies and the private sector.

Preferred but not Required Skills/Experience
Experience with IRS or State Tax applications or experience as a tax accountant
Experience with the State of Michigan PMM/SUITE or similar waterfall IT Development methodology
Experience with JAD and Agile IT Development methodologies
Ability to clearly communicate with users for clarification and elaboration as may be necessary to clearly define a problem and conceptualize a development plan.
Recognize, gather, correlate, and analyze facts, draw conclusions, define problems, and devise solutions and alternatives and make appropriate recommendations.
Working with the Data Modelers and developers, facilitate modification of the logical design to create a physical design most suited to the reporting needs of the customer.
Ability to design applications taking into consideration data reconciliation, (to the source system) query/reporting performance, and analytical business value.

Experience with Data Cleansing
Experience with Data Governance
Experience with SAP Tax module
