Interview Process: Onsite interviews are REQUIRED for this position. Manager will start with initial phone screen.

Purpose/Position of Summary:
This position serves as Database Analyst, Senior for the Information Technology and Reporting Services Section of the Division of Mental Health and Addiction.
This position serves as DMHA Database Administrator supporting the databases for the following applications: DARMHA, ICOPE, Certs, WITS, and Avatar.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Performs database administration of DMHA SQL Server databases in coordination with IOT.
Designs and implements logical and physical databases, of a complex nature.
Determines aggregation, partitioning, and indexing strategies for physical data.
Monitors and tunes database performance.
Administers end-user access and security at the database level.
Ensures that data is appropriately protected via database backup and related strategies.
Provides operational support for database, ensuring data integrity, database availability, and performance.
Implements and maintains database catalogs and dictionaries.
Facilitates discussions for long-term planning implementation. Identifies and explores the potential strategies for long-term implementation.
Provides overall monitoring of the standards, procedures and integration of systems, through database design.
Develops work plans for assigned projects and supervises their execution.
Provides guidance and reviews the work of team members on special projects.
Trains and provided technical assistance other section staff related to database issues.
Develops strategies to better utilize the database data. Creates reports, writes stored procedures, develops ETLs, etc.

Job Requirements:
Strong DBA experience (data security, performance tuning and monitoring, capacity planning, etc. Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2/2012/2016 (SSRS, SSAS, SSIS
Strong database development experience (ETL development, T-SQL programming, data reporting)
Strong SQL and report writing experience.
Exposure to .NET technology (C#, VB, etc and Microsoft Visual Studio 2008/2010/2013 useful. Data warehousing and BI solutions experience also useful.
Working knowledge of, C#, Ajax, Web Services, JavaScript, and Visual Studio 2008/2010/2013;
Working knowledge of cache databases preferred.
Extensive knowledge of capacity planning and disaster recovery;
Broad knowledge of data communications, including networking;
Ability to perform problem solving and logic analysis;
Ability to analyze, communicate and recommend future needs and direction for agency’s data processing software/hardware environment;
Ability to read and understand complicated technical manuals;
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities;
Strong ability to communicate both orally and in writing, including the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical individuals.
Ability to write complex database computer programs, macros, scripts, etc.;
Ability to guide and coordinate the work of others.
