On behalf of our client, Procom Services is searching for a Database Administrator for a contract opportunity in Durham, NC.
Database Administrator Job Details
SQL Server Database Administrator to implement and administer databases within a multi-tiered environment including clustered and non-clustered on both physical and virtual server hosts. The DBA will play a critical role in design, build, implementation, upgrade and optimization of SQL Server databases in a Wintel environment. The Database Administrator will support SQL Server 2008 R2, primarily.
Monitor/maintain/upgrade the SQL Server database and assist the application team with performance tuning initiatives , and builds from the application vendor Interface with business analysts and application developers to create and maintain physical data models based on the logical design
Monitor and tune databases to ensure peak performance Design/implement backup and recovery solutions including SQLSafe as well as native SQL Server methods and tools.
Provide assistance to associates to resolve technical issues, document and implement best practices for the database environments
Establish and maintain standards, controls and procedures to ensure data integrity and security
Perform capacity planning and projection for future growths
Provide on-call support on a rotation basis
Help with Data Modeling, Logical & Physical Diagraming and translation to implementation
Implement new database instances; create indexes, performance tune queries.
Install & setup SQL Server 2008 R2 and above Database backups, transfers
Database Upgrade, Migrations Space allocations & support during Application upgrades
Create/Modify/Refine SQL Server T-SQL procedures and triggers, etc.
Assistance in conversion from other RDBMS platforms
DBA Support for post-conversion DB performance monitoring & analysisT-SQL experience required.
Database Administrator Mandatory Skills
Bachelors degree or demonstrated equivalent competency
Proficient in administering and tuning SQL Server Databases (2008 R2)
Experience with SQL Server database upgrade to 2008 R2 preferred
Experience with any 3rd Party SQL Server database tools (Toad, Foglight) preferred
3+ years DBA experience in SQL Server environment
Ability to expand business relationships and work independently
Certifications in specific area of consulting focus Strong customer service skills Hands on experience with SQL Server database
Experience in writing/modifying DB triggers & procedures Experience with SQL
Server application conversions/upgrades Experience with developing and/or supporting MS SQL Server BI Stack, particularly SSRS and SSIST-SQL experience required.
