Role : Data Warehouse Developer
Length: 6-12+ months with possible extension
Location: Austin, TX
No remote work allowed; onsite M-F (flex hours depending on manager)

Hiring Manager’s top requirements:
8-10 years in Data Warehouse
3 of those years with Guidewire DataHub and InfoCenters is required (usually SAP is integrated in DataHub)
Must have strong hands-on coding using SQL
Must have SQL Server experience
Property & Casualty insurance background is a plus
Agile is a plus
1st round is a phone interview with hiring manager/team member, 2nd round will be onsite (if local) or Skype with hiring manager/team members.

POSITION SUMMARY: Using the data warehouse and reporting architectures, the Senior Data Warehouse Developer is responsible for the design, coding, and testing of: submission process software for TFPA, Extract, translate, and load (ETL) software, data warehouse console software, data warehouse audit software, data warehouse software build script, and reporting software.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic
Participate in evaluating and recommending software development tools for data warehouse and reporting services applications.
Participate in establishing the overall IT hardware/software architecture.
Participate in establishing the IT service level objectives for response time and availability.
Participate in developing IT processes and procedures and defining deliverables for system development and system operation.

Tactical:
Experience in designing dimensional modeling and data mart development.
Prepare design deliverables for highly complex custom developed:
ETL software that receives data from TWIA/TFPA transactional systems and updates the TWIA/TFPA Data Warehouses.
ETL auditing capabilities for capturing, reporting, and correcting bad data.
Reports using Business Objects & MS Reporting Services against TWIA/TFPA’s data warehouses or transactional databases.
Data warehouse software build script.
Participate in preparing and maintaining plans to develop custom software and software to integrate with COTS applications.
Ability to monitor performance of data warehouse and reporting systems to provide tuning recommendations.
Designed software must meet user functional requirements and TWIA service levels for response time and availability.
Provide leadership, as required, to a team of programmers/analysts by resolving technical issues, establishing design, coding, and testing priorities.
Write document, and unit test code based on designs.
Provide periodic status of deliverables, level of effort, and timeframes to completion.
Interview, evaluate, and recommend candidates for IT positions, as requested.
Trouble shoot, as required, problems with software in production.
Develop and implement a personal training plan with assistance and approval by TWIA management.
Formally document designs using established documentation standards such as UML.
Experienced designing data warehouse schemas following industry-accepted design patterns and best practices.
Provide guidance to more junior level IT personnel in software design, coding, and testing
Assist in defining the user requirements for application systems.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Four-year college degree, preferably in CS, engineering or other technical field, or equivalent experience.
8 years of directly relevant experience.
In-depth knowledge of formal software development processes and best practices.
Understanding of business operations - preferably property and casualty insurance.
Clear, effective verbal and written communication skills including the ability to actively listen, problem solve, and communicate effectively with both technical and business users.
Prior experience in all areas of the responsibilities list unless otherwise noted
Demonstrated experience working both as an individual contributor and as part of a team.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Familiarity with agile methodology a plus.
Any IT certification is a plus
