Job Title: Data Governance Specialist Consultant

Location: Palo Alto, CA

Job Description:

The requirement to hire Data Governance Specialist for 3 months. The person will be responsible to help with Data Governance and Data Standardization activities within SAP ERP environment.

The consultant must have extensive experience (5 – 7 years) in the following areas:

Min.5+ years of experience in data governance disciplines: metadata management; data quality analysis; data quality remediation; data profiling and data lineage in ERP/SAP environment Understanding of the Data Management Body of Knowledge (DMBOK) standard Knowledge and experience working with leading ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle supporting Finance and HR modules Understanding of ERP systems and interfaces (Financial and Human Resources, Utilities) and the data flow within various applications Experience working on SAP Data Governance tools [Information Steward, Data Services or Master Data Governance] is a plus Strong written and oral communication skills with ability to work with business users, peers and management Ability to work independently and as part of a team Highly motivated, self-starter with problem solving skills Extraordinary attention to detail and accuracy.

Demonstrate ability to learn and understand business processes quickly

Essential duties: Propel efforts to establish governance over data standardization, such as who is responsible for data standardization, what data is subject to standardization, what is the data standardization, and so forth.

Work with Departments to review the data within SAP and determine what will benefit most by standardizing data. Review other systems and implement data standardization, where feasible and beneficial; especially in circumstances when the data feeds into SAP.

Help establish data standardization requirements for data cleansing during the upcoming ERP upgrade. Help identify any data governance related tools that the City could leverage to discover, assess, define, monitor, and improve the quality of Enterprise data.

Work with data owners to fix data issues and develop a remediation plan to prevent future data issues Participate in writing and review of data governance policies, procedures and standards
