Job Description:

The Lead Software/Data Engineer (Assistant Chief Architect) will be involved in a major strategic innovation initiative of the company involving two locations: New York City and Europe.
The goal is to digitize Underwriting expertise and create an advanced next generation Risk Assessment Engine in an open and Agile environment.
This role requires an inspired and inspiring Technology Leader, capable of building a team, dedicated to product excellence, experienced in Cloud and Container implementations, accomplished in client workshops and well adept in handling large data sets.

Build a team of Software Engineers and Data Engineers.
Closely collaborate with the Risk Assessment Engine leadership team, and the Data Science team to explore new technology opportunities.
Translate requirements into solutions by leveraging Open Source technology and lead the development of entire product components.
Provide hands-on leadership in collaborating with your team and help the team solving the hardest problems.
Strive for the new technology breakthroughs while always having the Risk Assessment Engine’s business model in mind.
While focused and committed to the Risk Assessment Engine, be in exchange with the Senior Management of IT Business Technology to make sure, new concepts and technologies can also be utilized in other initiatives of the company.

Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in the development and architectural design of technology solutions (as Architect or Technical Lead) with comprehensive experience regarding MicroServices and Data Science.
Experience in leading a team of Software and Data Engineers.
3-5+ years of experience with sophisticated implementations on Microsoft Cloud/Development/Architecture and Azure, Docker and Software & Infrastructure Automation (including operation support in DevOps mode
3-5+ years of experience in building APIs and services using REST (Swagger and API management knowledge a plus
Excellent analytical and conceptual capabilities coupled with the ability to present complex situations in a clear and precise way and to transfer complex problems into adequate architecture.
Sound knowledge of Agile development methodology and DevOps covering the whole life cycle of a software product (including maintenance
Professional knowledge in common development domains like version control, automated deployment and testing, design of databases (e.g., SQL Server, NoSQL
Hands-on experience working with technologies like Hadoop, Hive, Pig, Spark, Kafka, Flume, and others.
Experience in Insurance or Finance industries a plus.
Engineering University degree, preferably Computer Science.
